Fitzroy had a great jersey and colours. The original is going to sell for a high price on Ebay eventually.

I was playing in the street, when a British Airways officer came round to inform the man next door that his wife had died. I have thought about it on and off since. I started watching a few KZbin videos about air disasters and had to see what really happened then. I watched another one first, but this one is far superior in every respect.

I was 10 years old in 1976 and I was at my grandmother's house in Nerezine on Losinj island. I remember very well that suddenly her neighbours (who were from Zagreb) rushed to our door in the early afternoon of that fateful day with their faces upset and terrified, telling my granny that two aircraft had just collided over the sky of their city and everybody had died. It seems yesterday as I have such clear memory of that.

Thanks for uploading this! In case you are interested: in North America, the same movie was released under the title "The Tragedy of Flight 103: The Inside Story". You may find it on KZbin and you'll notice several differences including: an extra scene at the US embassy in Moscow, different narrator, different fonts/sound effects for on-screen titles and credits, and a different ending (instead of a memorial service, it shows the fires in Lockerbie that night and the wreckage the day after).

very interesting. a top movie could be made about reagan and the red button. i saw a uk documentary that listed the times that reagan's staff had to call the russians and tell them that the bombers are returning home and it was just an accident. ive since found out there were other incidents during the reagan years that werent listed in the doco.

The Beechy line closed all thse years ago yet the spectacular Tasmanian north east line particularly between Scottsdale and Ledgerwood was operational until the late 1980's.

Would've been fantastic to watch a match here I reckon: away supporters to the end at the left of the screen I assume, Fitzroy's to the right, same as Princes & Vic Park?
@thomasraftery4093 ай бұрын
Brunswick St Ovall was usually mud and slush in the winter months Spectators had to stand in puddles. The oval was the shortest in the VFL. Players often endured cold showers and getting a beer after the game in change rooms only was a queue up wait.

I can tell Richard Weston was fighting more for Tasic and the disappointment on his face at the end of the trial seeing the other 5 be let off while Tasic went back to jail must have been hard to fight for his freedom but managed to do so 2 years later

Excellent archive film, especially of the aircrew in their positions. Almost entirely RAAF Lincolns. My father was an RAF 83 Squadron Lincoln rear gunner, based at RAF Hemswell, Lincs, but detached to RAF Tengah for six months at the end of 1953. Whilst there he flew 20 operations against the Communist Terrorists (CTs). It wasn't only bombing and strafing strikes; his log book reveals that on October 27, 1953, his aeroplane ferried leaflets from Tengah to RAF Butterworth to be used in Operation "Bison". As far as I am aware that was an effort to persuade CT cells to give themselves up with promises of a bounty a new ID and a new life. I hold two of those leaflets. It proved to be a successful initiative - as was the entire campaign which led to Singapore being the successful state it is today.

It’s crazy & sad to see how quickly the decline Fitzroy went through from winning the night premiership in 1959 & losing the preliminary final to Collingwood by 5 points in 1960 to winning 1 game in 1963 against eventual premiers Geelong, winless in 1964 a VFL/ AFL record, 2 wins in 1965 finishing 2nd last by percentage & 1 win in 1966 the last season playing at the Brunswick Street Oval & 30 years later it’s merger with Brisbane
