Spine tingling ! Steiger could be hammy and OTT at times but at his best he was capable of moments of genius . The Silent Scream was one of those moments . Lee Marvin got the Oscar that year......for Cat Ballou ???

Remember this film was released in June 1964, when Sidney Lumet's The Pawnbroker was his follow-up to 1957's 12 Angry Men. It received rave reviews despite its subject matter and controversy as well as its powerful legacy, like most blockbusters such as Carrie, Body Heat, The Chosen, Flashdance, Scarface,The Big Chill, Body Double, Heavenly Bodies, The Morning After, Fatal Attraction, No Way Out, Running on Empty, Basic Instinct and Carlito's Way as well as cult favorites including Daniel, Nine and a Half Weeks, Jacob's Ladder, Disney/RKO's Closet Land, Stephen Hopkins' Blue Sky for Focus/MGM, Jonathan Demme's China Moon for TriStar/Carolco, Showgirls and both final filmmakers' cuts of White Sands & The Getaway for New Line Cinema/Castle Rock Entertainment (under Time Warner since November 1996). The Pawnbroker has earned an 1966 Academy Award nomination for best actor in a leading role (Rod Steiger). It was co-produced by the Landau Company and Producers Sales Organization, co-distributed by American Internattional and Allied Artists (both until September 19, 1980). Paramount Pictures finally took over the film under Viacom in the fall of 1996 along with My Fair Lady, The African Queen among others under the guidance of Sherry Lansing, Ned Tanen, Jonathan Dolgen, Les Moonves, Lindsley Parsons Jr., Michelle Manning, Ann Morales, Hunt Lowry, Kevin McCormick and Sumner & Shari Redstone.

I like. Would have been great in a game trailer, for Bioshock or Fall Out.
