Man, I wish carpentry/construction did not have such an established system of guys wasting time and energy trying to make it harder for those that are new. It drives away intelligent hard workers who have self respect and only leaves kids who are naive to the situation, flunkies, or junkies. These job sites often continue cycles of abuse that becomes normal and any attempts to make the site professional or respectful is thought of as weak and sensitive. It's the father's job to put his son through controlled adversity through challenge, not the seniors at work. Any gaps a father leaves will be filled out through independence in life. There's a good reason why you will never find a long term construction worker who is completely sober. They medicate to survive, physically and mentally. It does not have to be that way...
