I went to school at neighboring Washington-Lee HS at this very time. I even know Frankie Glascoe, who ran that winning touchdown at the end of the movie. But no, racial tensions did not run high. That's total BS.

Obviously we need oil and gas, but we shouldn't be burning it all when we need it for fertilizers and plastics, especially when we can get most of our grid and transport energy directly from the Sun. Mandating recycling wouldn't be a bad idea either to prevent polluting our own food and skyrocketing cancer rates.
