The pattern on Etsy was actually an official release. The costume designers from Mrs Maisel provided the pattern and it was released as a fundraiser to help support the backstage crew who were all out of work for almost two years during covid. They actually demoed the pattern with Bernadette Banner, who had the dress made in black moire silk. Yes, it had a high price, but that was because it was licenced, official and a charitable fundraiser.

What a nice pattern! I made some lace skirts and various tops from that yarn because it really does feel so nice to wear. all together I have about 15 belle garments , 2 are summer jumpers made by combining belle with a really thin , soft alpaca / elastane yarn. I can imagine a dress like that would be better with something thinner than belle. Sandness do a thin linen viscose cotton mix , Id use that but I think for that kind of money Id rather go up a little bit more and use silk , K.F O do one for £8.5 per 50g . I keep hoping drops will.produce a thin version of belle and with some different colours , mostly because Im bored now of using the Belle colours. Questions; did you use the recommended yarn size and gauge? Did you swatch to figure out the shrink rate? Did you know that dress will become grey as the sun will bleach it? Thanks for the videos, the dress looks just perfect on you even though not perfectly to your liking in terms of it having thicker yarn.

I usually k2tbl when working lace. the point of skpsso is to make it less visible ,which isnt desirable in lace. Furthermore, you have hundreds of them to do so.... do what easiest. This is a lovely garment and very nice looking yarn. I dont have etsy and I dont want it, I have only bank transfer for paying as well. If you take that kind of payment then Id like to buy the pattern please and maybe in that case I will look for a couple of other patterns in your inventory.

Just watched all 3 videos so far, really love the series! I think your pattern choices have some similarities that really show the evolution over the decades, very interesting 💖🧶 looking forward to see how it continues! Also very interesting to compare the instructions, I‘m scared that it will get more and more sparse and complicated 🥲

Hello! I have a question: is there a point in having the bodice in multiple slices, instead of a single piece? Is it just for aesthetics, or does it have a technical advantage?
@stitchesbytess5 ай бұрын
Hi! Yes there is a technical reason. Most of the shaping in a corset comes from the way the pieces are cut. The pieces are shaped so that the waist is smaller than the bust/hips. So even without the boning the corset will already hold its shape 😊
@Dante02d125 ай бұрын
@@stitchesbytess Thank youuu! That explains the shape, but why is it in multiple pieces? Like, let's say we keep that same patron, but instead of multiple pieces we keep just two (one for the front, one for the back). Would it work the same?
@stitchesbytess5 ай бұрын
@@Dante02d12 No, unfortunately that wouldn't work the same. The smaller pieces help to get the right shape because they are cut out on specific grainlines. This prevents any warping of the fabric which would happen if the pieces were larger. The specific measurements of the individual pieces relate to a specific shape of corset. You wouldn't get the same measurements if you cut out two pieces. It's the same reason there are often darts in modern clothing pieces around the curves of the body, these are all ways to translate a 3D shape to a 2D piece of fabric.

Hi, I like the dress - and the pattern. But I have a couple of questions: Did you somehow sew the French seam down? It looks like it when you hem the skirt. And if you knit the top you are wearing in the beginning, could you please tell me which pattern it is? I love it. 🙂
@stitchesbytess8 ай бұрын
Hi! Thank you 🥰 I didn't sew the french seam down. I did press it to one side which is probably why it looks like it's sewn down. The top I wear in the beginning is the Drops 'Walking on Air' top: www.garnstudio.com/pattern.php?id=11314&cid=19

For the zipper, there was a youtube video I watched about fixing zippers and putting them back on after they've come off, I don't remember the video, but it has helped me feel more confident and able to fix my zippers when they come apart, perhaps there's a technique that can help you with that!
