The bigger contoversy is that Leslie Grantham murdered a German taxi driver whilst trying to rob him and only served 10 years, that's scandelous and the German's family have always said this.

Good video. I think there are some similarities between Tracey in EastEnders and Betty in Coronation Street. even though Betty is a more fleshed out character. Both have more or less the same occupation and both are long-running characters. Both of them see a lot of chaos unfolding around them but are rarely at the centre of it themselves. I look forward to your next video. You mentioned a subject that you wanted to do a video on in one of your other tierlist videos at least, and in part because of that I watched this particular storyline in its entirety quite recently. Would be very glad if the upcoming video is on this subject, although I'm sure it will be good regardless of what it is.

Donna from the 80’s is probably most underrated character and saddest story. Makes u realise how awful character and overrated Kathy actually is just neglects her daughter who then kill’s herself divorces her husband who clearly still loved her fakes her death for like 10 years ugh and also a hypocrite cause she called Sharon a slut but then goes and does exact same thing and cheats on Phil with grant and doesn’t even tell him either just flys off on a plane lol

I’ve been watching Eastenders for weeks now catching up on everything since 1985 I’ve missed as wasn’t born till ‘96 .. I was watching Stella storyline today and yes she’s definitely a traumatised character, I guess she killed her sister by suffocating her like what she says when she threatens Ben before the wedding also her last words are “watch me daddy” before she jumps to her death.. I still don’t understand why tho

Idk how to say this without sounding shitty but these tier videos are just not it, the views alone tell you that. Your individual stories on characters are so much more thought-out and fascinating I genuinely thought this channel would be a new favourite but it seems like you've shifted your content completely and I'm not sure why? Please go back to what is entertaining because these videos really ain't it.

It is my understanding that these tier videos are an attempt to bridge the gap between the other, more in-depth videos. By their very nature, those videos take more time, it's not a simple matter of being able to go ahead and churn them out every other week. Would I like to see them more frequently? Of course, but part of the price we pay for quality is that we must wait for them to be finished. As a former solo content creator, I have personal experience of how hard it can be to juggle passion projects such as these and the many other demands that permeate our lives. I know first hand that sometimes, you put something out that you know will not have the success of the stuff you want to put out, because you know that if you don't release something, anything, you'll abandon the lot. Ultimately, this content is filler, and should be seen as such. It's easy for someone outside the field to criticise and complain and make what they thing is helpful commentary, but ultimately, comments like yours are more likely to discourage the creator from continuing, than actually do any good.

Nolly was rubbish. Noele must be spinning in her grave. It was just a typical, 21st Century, misandrist piece of bile. But with super woke RTD at the helm and Helena spouting absolute nonsense about the pay gap, one could hardly expect anything else. Drop the feminist ideology, and do some objective research. Professor Janice Fiamengo did - right back to feminism's origins - and the results are very surprising indeed. Using Nolly as a vehicle for this hate agenda is unforgiveable.

I remember Corrie sliding drastically in the ratings in the early to mid 1970s. Social issues and grimness were once again cited as the reasons. Bill Podmore was brought in, but even then the climb back to the top of the ratings took a long time.

The main thing this video seems to highlight is the incredible continuity and consistency in Sharon, Phil and Grants history and backstory. Over the years the abusive backgrounds they all had have been as accurately referenced in later eras as they were in earlier ones and originally.

Hello, creator (nod to Den 😅). I am a huge Eastenders fan & I am re watching classic episodes at the moment. I'm at the point that Den returns & was Goggling something when your video was recommended. I was happily surprised at just how well you have put your content together. The much obvious research you have done in preparation, the finding of the endless clips needed & of course your very well written & cohesive narration makes it a pleasure to watch. You have absolutely gained a new sub in me & I'll be getting through your other videos very soon, I am sure. I appreciate you, thank you!

I wish Den had stayed longer it would have been cool to see him with Peggy, Archie Mitchell and Derek Branning. Also by that time Den would have been in his sixties/seventies so he 2ould really have to use his mind more to catch up. Also if he was there longer and Phil comes back there would be cool to see their relationship evolve to where it an uneasy truce they both come to a respect but also hate each other and will backstab each other. There's moments where they will both join force to take down a threat like Derek Branning or Aiden Mcguire but will also use these people to get one over on the other.

So, they can ruin it with management aka poor producers. The bossy types. Like when they killed off Martha Longhurst and therefore ruined the 3 character comedic interplay. That was another producer.

They went about it all wrong - Her fans didnt want to see a hard faced drag queen - They wanted to see the down on her luck making the best of things old Bet we all loved - Should have stripped away all the over the top wigs and jewelery and brough her back like how Ava Gardner was at the end of Showboat then built the character up again to her former glory stopping before going over the top again with those dreadful wigs

Have come down a rabbit hole watching/learning a bit around Julie Goodyear. What a remarkable, strong, sassy woman - ESP for her era. Just incredible. You can't please all the people all the time...often as a woman of any era, you can't please a single person any of the time....but what a strong mum, a hard-worker, and not a quitter. Very determined and NO victim whatsoever. I grew up in a matriarchy of solo women with 2 kids a piece...my nana, and my mother. I'm almost 56. I also am a single mum of one who is about to turn 10, but I have massive appreciation for women who have had to fight like fuck to stay alive, be strong, and stand on their own two feet in what was (and still is in some or many senses depending on your lot) a man's world, and work full-time, and raise decent kids. Esp when laws to do with property ownership etc, having bank accounts/mortgages and so on ad so forth, were against them even if they were earning; and the fathers got away with never paying a cent. And never forget the social stigma. On single mothers (one thing I haven't had to contend with). I gather she is now suffering from dementia. If she, or her husband, is reading this, please pass on appreciation for the great work as an actress in her Coro role...always...not that I've watched it AT ALL for 18-20yrs, not sure, but a bloody long time. I feel a real affinity for and appreciation of, as a woman, women like her. She is one tough, but warm, loving, lady and possessing great humility. And clearly has taken her profession, and roles in life, seriously and with a great sense of responsibility. NO-one is perfect and what is refreshing about her, is she is no pretender as a human being, she's boldly honest (and I'm not sure, but doesn't seem to fall over backwards apologising all the time...nor did my mum or nana...though we all live with regrets, even if never admitted...as it's a generational thing/shift...it's a lie we don't; and if you don't live with any regrets after relationships bearing kids, you're either a sociopath, or total narcissist; or in denial because saving face means more than even your own child/ren). And that is rare!!!

I just watched the series ‘Nolly’ with Helena Bonham-Carter. I knew nothing about Noele Gordon before the series, which I loved. I thought Helena Bonham-Carter made a terrific performance and it was a real treat to watch her very fine performance. Your video gave me a lot of context which I didn’t previously have. Thank you! Very, very well done.

Just finished this video. A very good watch. Ena and Blanche actually overlap in the programme by a few years - Blanche first appears in 1974 and Ena makes her final appearance in 1980. I don't know if there were many interactions between them over those few years, but it would be interesting to see. Ena is someone who is very much a figure of the first half of the twentieth century (that is, still influenced by the Victorian era, as you say) and was already quite 'old-fashioned' by 1960. Blanche (who I don't dislike as much as you) doesn't quite have that same level of complexity or background. She's basically there for the comedy aspect.

We never saw Den’s dead body. The first time the cable was dredged, there was no body. Second time, when they did find a body, it was badly decomposed. Eastenders tried to get Dirty Den back every year after he left. He’s one of the greatest Eastenders characters of all time. They explained every little detail to bring Den back without insulting our intelligence, or defying logic. They didn’t ignore previous cannon. They constructed a whole family set up for him to come back to. And I loved it. He was always one of my favourites. From being a kid. And it was heartbreaking that it took them nearly 15 years to get him back and then just a year and a 1/4 later, they kill him off properly. And just because a Reporter set him up. Just because he was dirty on web cam. Just because he slagged off a couple of his colleagues. So what? There’s no law that says you have to be friends with who you work with. You’re meant to leave bad blood at the door and be professional. Why couldn’t the people he slagged off just do that? And what you get up to in your private life don’t affect your ability to do your job. He didn’t break any laws. It was ridiculous. And they didn’t have to kill him off, either. Everything could be played out as it did, but he could’ve just gone back to Spain. Then he could’ve come back again when things cooled down. Make guest returns to see Sharon every few years, or something. Didn’t have to kill him off for real. After all the work they put in to get him back. It made me so angry. And I’ve just watched it all again on Drama, 19 years later.

They shouldn't never force den to return unless he wanted to in a documentary he said he returned only if they killed him off. His return we're wrong because one he was not the dirty den zas he were in 1985 until he leaving in 1989 in his 1st time in the doap he were not so much as nasty he do anything for anyone in the square borrowing money and protect the square from the firm getting Protection racket money stopped 🎉from his friends and also had to do a job in return for the firm by forcing him to go abroad & money laundering for them. Also he got revenge on James willmott brown by getting his pub burn down for rape of karthy. After je were killed off. His return he were not the den he was in the 80s he were nasty cruel and hated his son also name den. He become all for himself and walk over everyone then they killed him him off the most boring way. He should sorted philemon out them decide the square not his home anymore made it up with his kids then gave the pub back to Phil and left. I think the Internet thing were a excuse to get rid of him or den only stayed to ve killed of for good in front of every everyone they should never force him back unless he wanted to return then they cou could d the original den characters back. The most ignoring part were they decide to kill young den off too that werexa miatake
