Any chance these will come in the carbon weave look?
@spoolfool22 ай бұрын
These are carbon, but I just do a black gel coat to keep the cost down as much as I can. Most people want to paint them inside the engine compartment. You can see the carbon weave inside the wheel wells on the back side. Best to hydro-dip them if you want that look in the engine compartment.

Mike have you put any thought into make a stretched slic with aluminum shroud.... I believe only precision is making them... Or is there no market for them...
@spoolfool24 ай бұрын
It would be a limited market. I did do a one-off, boost activated, drop down, SLIC shroud / scoop for my old V$. I did a write up on the Buick board a bunch of years ago. I think all the pictures got lost when the board crashed.

Here's my how to video. To bond my Spoolfool carbon fiber bumper skin/ shell to an original or aftermarket aluminum back brace. Please feel free to leave tips or comments below. I have personally had good luck using Simpson Strong tie two part epoxy. and RTV silicone. Others have used panel adhesive. I just sell the bumper skin. You'll need to source the rest. There is an East Coast body shop that is planning on laying a bunch of them up and having then for sale complete. Call, text or Email me on my website for nearest vendor. Big thanks for the feedback Terry. 80% of the people who buy these, don't paint them. It's not a perfect match, but very close. It'll get you buy until you're ready to paint the car and most people wont no the difference. Especially if you put a coat of wax on them.

I used fiberglass fillers from GBody Parts & they worked great. I had to do some bodywork below the taillight area but am satisfied overall. I actually made the rear a 1 piece unit.

you could make a generic one with cutout marks for starters and lips and multiple bolt hole patterns.

What car or combo are you wanting it to fit? This should work with most of the starters and the holes can be modified for a 400 trans.

I would like to have a set problem is there are other parts I need for the car that cost big money to so I have to chose my battles wisely and prioritize how I can spend money on the car. I'm sure I'm not the only one like this so valve coves are low on the list but axles or fuel management may be high.

Thanks man. I'm just trying to have fun and think outside the box. I feel confident that I have crafted the best fitting and engineered set of Turbo Buick valve covers to have ever been made. If I can inspire others to take chances on doing new ideas, that's a bonus. Not everything is about the money. I did this because no one else would or did. I lost money on the project. But it's kinda like when you were a kid and tried to jump your bike across 6 trash cans and ate shit doing it with all your friends watching . You are now stronger because of it. You can laugh your ass off with those friends and wouldn't take a million bucks to not have the experience in your head. What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. The only looser is the one who never even tries. Go big or go home.

U make that for a new Hellcat, Camaro, Corvette or Mustang you will have a greater market. At 800, that’s the cost of a turbo, IC or all-aluminum radiator. For the 86-87TR, the market is leaning towards restoration. Or, 🧇 them all off.

Mike ,you deserve to double your direct cost on products .My thoughts are finding the sweet spot .Most will pay or market cost is 300 and under IMHO .Some people will pay more but limited .I think the sweet spot is 500 to 600 .if you go over that like you said crickets.if you could just get your cost down a little more .i think they will move some in the 500 to 600 range or at double the normal market .BTW thanks for all you do for the community and racers that alone is worth spending the extra money .if you can get your cost down a little bit more i think they will move.good expiriment at BG ...BTW ...Thank you again

Well the problem w the waffle is everyone is getting minimum $500 item for say 100. I don't believe the market calls for 1500 valve covers. Most of our buick guys are cheap. Nothing wrong w it but it will be hard to sell 900 vc when there's decent ones that work well for most part. Another problem w waffles is if you're doing a lot of them they can wear out quickly.
