Can I just use fabric glue for the fabric because I don't have all that different tape stuff lol I just have art glitter glue and fabric glue that's what I normally use for my books. And rubber tape for the book spine
@AtticTreasuresEtc
@AtticTreasuresEtc 24 күн бұрын
Hi Samantha! You can certainly try that and see how it works. Maybe practice on a newer thrifted Little Golden Book. I was concerned that the glue alone would come apart during use which is why I opted for the fabric tape. I found it at Joann Fabrics if you have one near you. Thank you so much for watching and for your comment. Happy crafting! ~Kathy xo

Do I remember the Jetsons? Absolutely! And my 7th grade reading teacher said our grandkids would go to school on hover buses and no more gasoline engines. She literally looked like the 1950’s Barbie Doll, the one with the ponytail. She had cat-like black glasses with rhinestones in the tips. She was quite a neat woman even though she was very different from the other teachers. And I soaked up reading. We had reading cards then. Something new to teaching. I wondered just why you would have multiple plastic placemats. Oh, now I know why. 🙄 😂 I wonder about covering a floor vent? I think using another cookie rack to raise it might give more air coverage to the whole cookie sheet?? I guess then outline the vent w paper towels held in place by the feet of the cookie sheet?? I live in Central Texas. I don’t think many houses here would have floor vents. Maybe some older with pier and beam construction?? Oh my goodness - the leaves! Both in the coffee dyed and by themselves especially! You got some really beautiful patterns with the placemats. The one which just filled the paper was absolutely stunning. I can’t recall which one it was. It was very decorated by the placemat. Several were quite impressive. I don’t know that I’d try turmeric - the end result and the grit. I’ll have to listen again to how you blended the beet mixture. I’ve taken to painting the coffee onto the papers when I dye them. It’s not as messy and beats the way I first tried tea dying with papers all over a protected table. I have to remember adding cinnamon to make the coffee fragrant with it. I was so immersed in the leaves at the end that when I finished watching I couldn’t remember what I had seen earlier in the video. Ruh-row!! 😂 Thanks for sharing!!❤

Very very nice and lovely journal for your cousin. Such thoughts and memories in it. I’m sure she’s received it some time back now and I’m curious how she reacted. You mentioned she loves elephants. I watch a channel she might enjoy watching, “HERD Elephant Orphanage South Africa”. I figure it’s okay to give you the name of the channel here since it doesn’t compete with your artful creations. I had watched the making of the envelopes tucked in the pockets prior to this one. Thoroughly enjoyed watching and thinking about the grandma and cousin I was close to years back. I really love your little golden book. 😍What size Spine did you make, 1 1/2 inch? I have a pack of those Brad Ring things from Tim Holtz and I have yet to use them. I think the way you did it looks so nice. I never thought of using breathable tape, great idea!! I found some little golden books at goodwill yesterday and I attempted to make my first one last night. I removed the signatures from a Elmo L.G.B. after I took the signatures out. I used a Heat gun to partially remove the gold foil so I could take the staples out. I just didn’t love the look because part of the foil had pulled away from the book when I took out the signatures. I didn’t lift the entire piece of golden foil off, only up to where the staples were. I used art glitter glue to glue it back in place.

Hi, Deb! Thank you so much!! Sounds like you’re having lots of fun with the project, too. It’s been a while since I made that one, but I think the spine was 1-1/2”. I’m really looking forward to getting my craft room back up and running. The room is painted and the floor is in, but my husband needs to make shelves for the closet and install the baseboards before I can move all my stuff back in from storage. Please be patient with me during this process. Hopefully soon I’ll be able to start making mare videos. Thanks so much for watching and for your lovely comment! ~Kathy xo

Hi Kathy, what a cute journal! I love that you've had that button for over 20 years. I bought a vintage looking clock charm about 20 years ago. I didn't know how to incorporate it into my cards but I loved it so much that I kept it after I stopped crafting. I donated most of my craft supplies but that charm moved with me to different residences. I recently made a journal for my friend to document the cute things her granddaughter says to her and that charm found it's perfect home hooked to the lace of the spine. I would not have been able to part with it except that I knew my friend would love it as much as me.....and she does! 😃 BTW, how are the house repairs going?
