I've just noticed that, as in the case of Erwin Rommel, von Bock also was the recipient of the "Pour le Merit" the highest German medal from WW1 and the "Knights Cross to the Iron Cross," the highest military medal of Germany in WW2.

Erhard Milch was indeed of Jewish ancestry, though, through having an exceptional personal relationship with both Goering and Hitler, the latter gave him special dispensation to serve the Reich in his role as a senior Luftwaffe Commander.

I had an Great-uncle in the Panzer-Artillerie-Regiment 27 wich was part of the 17. Panzer Division. He died at the beginning of April 45. My father often told me little stories about him and that our family don't know about his fate in the endtime of war. I made a little researche and found out that he was buried in a little village on the border from poland to czech republic. Last year i went there and found a grave with his name. I had tears in my eyes, i didn't even know him personally but he still is part of my family..

Instead, the Luftwaffe’s highest rank was "Generalfeldmarschall," which was shared with the German Army (Heer). This was a reflection of the overall military organization in which the Luftwaffe was integrated. When a higher rank was needed for the Luftwaffe’s commander-in-chief, Hermann Göring, he was granted the specially created title of Reichsmarschall, a rank above Generalfeldmarschall. This ensured Göring’s supremacy not only within the Luftwaffe but also among other branches of the military. The creation of Reichsmarschall for Göring was a unique political and personal gesture by Adolf Hitler to elevate Göring’s status, making the introduction of a separate "Generalluftmarschall" rank unnecessary. Additionally, Germany's military tradition placed significant emphasis on preserving established titles and avoiding unnecessary proliferation of ranks, which may explain why they did not create a new title specifically for the Luftwaffe.
