This is a perfect case of white imperialism. Why does this guy build concrete dôme with material which is not found on the island? Stop use the little islands of Micronesia as field of your stupid and awfull experimentation! Respect the land and the people and stay away from them! They don't need concrete building that will remain for ever as a memory of western civilisation.

Interesting. I grew up in yap in the 50s and later visited often later. I did a lot of spear fishing as a kid in the 50s and later in my teens. In all those times of spear fishing inside and outside the reef, i never had any issues with sharks. Yes, i did loose a bunch of fish off a drag line behind me once. Yes, once. Other than that the sharks would or would not show any interest in me. When they showed interest they just basically did a check and then leave. In fact the only time i ever felt uncomfortable spear fishing was when i didnt see sharks. I also know where you were.

Woooooow thats amazing! I want to build something similar from scratch, but make it only a 3 wheeler for 2 passengers, autocycles are nearly impossible to find these days, and if you do, you would have to probably pull a mortgage on them to be able to buy them. the trick is how to register my bike as a trike? But something like this may be considered a bike, since it only has 2 wheels on the ground while driving straight 🤔

Hello. I just bought my 2nd S-12XL, the first one never was finished, and the "new one" has an engine, which is an all new experience for me...😂 John, having built one myself, (almost to completion), I am awed by your project! Extremely impressed over here in Oregon. Side Note: I almost moved to Yap myself around 1997 - by the looks of things, you seem at home there - I wish you all the best. Dan

Eu tenho um pequeno propriedade rural e vi q a construcción q + barato $ é o domo devido madeira aqui bem valiosa.

Wow...that was special for me to see. I went to those Islands back in 1985 from Honolulu Hawaii on the now decommissioned U.S. Coast Guard Cutter "Mallow" a WWII era mine layer that was being used for servicing aids to navigation. Awsome times back then. Lots of Atolls and Islands in the Pacific where visited. Now I'm an old salt "Wog/Golden Shellback" chillin on my own small boat along the East Coast. Thanks very much for sharing....Mahalo!

Hi. I'm an aircrete fan but... A bit worried about using it for foundation. Do you use the same ratio as for the blocks? Any sand? Do you remember the recipe ratio? Thanks for share.
@jonyap08
@jonyap08 Жыл бұрын
Sorry I don’t remember the ratio, but yes more sand. I would recommend just regular concrete for foundation. Aircrete is just too brittle.

Good question. One concern could be how to produce enough aircrete consistently so we don't end up with cold joints or areas where one pour ends and another begins.
