cicada shell, also go check out the ak bros

Similar thing happens around where old trees have fallen over. Something to do with the fungus living around the perimeter of the old tree roots. At least that has been what I have witnessed.

It is the shell cicada, I think. They live in the ground, crawl up trees before molting...

It looks like a locust shell.

Locust or cicada shell. As they grow they shed the old shell and form a new one.

We've gone thru several Google recipes for pickling cucumbers, and still have not find the one that hits that "perfect" spot. But then we are pretty pickle, particular.

I call it a locust shell, my granddaughter calls it a cicada
