Whats the difference in using the ball vs hitch cuz my ball says 10,000lbs? Prob rip that bumper right off eh😂

The ball may have a rating of 10,000# when properly installed into a hitch also rated at 10,000#. This cheap hitch is only rated at 3500#, so that becomes max regardless of what the ball says.

I think some people want to be able to use the hitch for other things like bike racks, long board extenders, cargo rack, steps... and clean it up when done. If you just want to use the ball and leave it there all the time, ball it is!

good job camera girl. so im not sure i understand. the hitch is rated for only 6000 pounds but then the truck is rated for 12,700 pounds. how does this make any sense. does it need to be welded on? I can weld it on. I got a hemi v8 truck and somehow it didnt come with a proper receiver to tow my boat. the dealer is now putting it on but theyre being strange about answering questions. they took a week and i had to get really on them about it all. its pretty frustrating. and now youre saying the hitch is only rated for 6k pounds and im like hhuuuH? then that means its not a class 4 hitch at all.

Yeah, not a real hitch at all. It's very lightweight, but was a perfect size for my small landscape trailer. If you are looking to haul real stuff on big trailers, you would need a real hitch. This would be more for small trailers or maybe bike racks or those cargo rack.

@@jeremythompson7022 im having the dealer install a hitch for my truck for free for me really had to fight em about it. not sure its going to be the same as yours or what. when you say a "real hitch" this is a preposition to what you are implying or as opposed to a "fake hitch." is this really just held on by the bumper and not the frame is that what you mean?

@@jeremythompson7022 real hitch. as opposed to fake hitch. ok i think what you meant is that you have a class III hitch as opposed to a class IV hitch. I had drawn a whole hell of confusion over this. Ram trucks seem to be so inherently confusing over what they can actually tow. The state 12,750 pounds but in reality this is a myth. And now that I bought a truck from them there was a huge confusion after the fact that I bought my truck that it would be able to tow my 8,000 pound boat or not. I told them this was the main reason for me having the truck from the get go. Come to find out the truck has a class 3 bumper hitch which is a pho hitch that people use and wind up taking out their whole bumper trying to actually tow with it. I didnt purchase a v8 truck to tow a lighty duty trailer if i was going to be doing that I would have purchased a v-6 truck. maybe you have a v-6 truck and maybe thats what works for you. I feel that I was flat out lied to at the dealer because my assumption was that my truck would be rated to tow 12750 from the factory but unfortunately i am now just learning that it can only tow 8200. to get 12,750 you have to do a whole ton of other crap. I'm extremely upset with Ram and their bait and switch tactics and will be informing the FTC of this. I cant believe how they hide the reality with preposition words like fake hitch yada yada yada its all just bullshit.

Hi could you tell me what size the threads are in the front where the bolt holes for the brackets have pre threaded nuts? The M8x1.25 bolts that came with my running boards don’t fit those holes..too big. But M7 bolts are too small. Same truck, 2020 ram quad cab warlock

I don't recall what size they were. But since my truck was brand spanking new, I assume the threads were perfectly clean. Possibly your threads have started to rust inside? Maybe run a tap thru them first to clean them out? Good luck!

I took it to a truck shop to get a tonneau installed. While I was there I asked if they could look at the holes and see if they had some bolts to fit. They ran a tap through and the M8x1.25 bolts fit now. I guess it was just rust

They came with the hitch. But I'm betting you could use a small gauge wire and wrap around the threads and fish the other end thru whatever.

What is the weight capacit ..tongue and load?

Slightly confusing... the link will bring you to Amazon and it states 6000# load with 600# tongue. But in the packaging it states 3500# load with 350# tongue. I contacted them and they said it would be safer to go by the smaller rating. I only have a small landscape trailer which fits within either limit, so I didn't care much.

Update... I recently had to drill some weep holes in the bottom of the running boards. Somehow they were filling up with water and were making a "bonging" sound. I'm not sure how the water is getting in, maybe where the rubber tread is attached? I assumed it was glued down, but it's getting in somewhere. So now it can drip out before my Northern Minnesota -25⁰ weather causes the freezing water to rupture my boards. And I have noticed a little paint flaking off at the front corners and where I step everyday.

This hitch is rated at 3500# per the manufacturer.

No, I assume that's a rating of the hardware holding it in place.

My running boards came with all the necessary hardware. Maybe your hardware pack was incomplete?

I just installed these same boards (in Chrome) on my 2019 2500 with my nephew yesterday. It took us about hour to do and the time spent together was priceless. They are awesome and good looking too...

Drop your spare and a rachet will fit no problem. Also start with the allen head bolt to hold the hitch up while trying to fish through the other bolts.
