The elders see the young guy speak with wisdom, thinking before acting. Before he'd be always angry, rash in action.

Yeah helmet scene is cool since we feel how long ago it was when the Spaniards first came. It is an Indiana Jones feel like scene.

This and Open Range are absolutely masterpieces. This especially. Other than the white chick, who honestly wasn’t bad, it was great seeing so much of the Native American Indians.

There are no native Americans. God created Adam in his image. Indians did not magically pop up out of the ground in america. The entire 'native american' narrative is a myth. A lie. Not true.

At this time in History the natives of the Americas had already fought wars with, against and were ally’s with the British and French. They had traveled to Europe. They would be well aware of how many Europeans there were in the world.

I like the first half of the movie. When Dunbar get captured, I feel it looses its movie “magic” and becomes something else. Not sure what it is but that’s how I see it.

It’s likely that all of his life John Dunbar was told that the Indians were bad people. That they were savages and could not be reasoned with. The power in this scene I think is that in this exchange he realized everything he had been told was not true at all. He was finding out they were good, decent, honorable and very reasonable people.

The funniest thing is to see that he shows a Spanish helmet as a strange and mysterious object, but use horses brought by the same Europeans.

I don't think it comes to strangeness and mistery here. The helmet is just a symbolic artefact of negative consequences of the Europeans' (the White's) arrival. The horses - on the contrary.

True but in addition he knows Wind In His Hair probably has more hierarchy in the tribe than him, so he'd most likely face his wrath if he didn't cave in one way or the other, and it probably shocked him to see Wind In His Hair taking Dunbar's side in the matter

Dunbar gradually lost his white man symbols and clothes as he slowly became a member of the tribe. First the American flag for a bandage, then his jacket for a bead vest, then his hat for a knife and later feathers. Of course his name too. P.S.This movie made me hungry for buffalo meat cooked over the open fire.
