yes the TRI-BLADE can loid a mortise lock latch, however it will not defeat a deadbolt that is engaged.

Wow. Just imagine how much faster it would be if the tool were carried in a more easily accessible sheath and was engineered (or lubricated) to be opened without all of the unnecessary "fiddly-ness".

Hey thanks for reaching out! we do carry leather holster sheaths for the blade, I agree the tool is tough to open at first but with frequent use this becomes much easier. Keep your eyes open for a new design release in the new year which make deployment of the tool a breeze! Stay safe

If those locks were installed correctly, you could not do this. Locksmiths know what I'm talking about.
@intothesmoke5714
@intothesmoke5714 Жыл бұрын
Hey Mark, if by installed correctly you mean have the anti-loid pin engaged all we'd have to do is gap the door enough to release it. If you were a locksmith you would know this, you would also know that more than 50 - 70% of locks are either installed incorrectly making them easy to loid or the pin is defective.

There are electric strikes on the frames and as a result the anti loiding pin is not engaged and the lock is not deadlocked.

Considering this product. I'm a little concerned about the durability at the rotation points. Seems like you'd be putting a fair amount of stress on the hinges used to rotate the different blades. Does this product have warranty for it?
@intothesmoke5714
@intothesmoke5714 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Joe, we definitely offer warranty on our tools. No need for concern regarding durability as I personally have tested and have used the same blade since INTO THE SMOKE was established. In regards to stress on the tool - there is in fact minimal when it comes to loiding the latch, if you encounter a latch that appears stuck this would cause the tabs to simple release (by design). This is an indicator that the deadlocking plunger (anti-loid pin) is engaged which would require gaping of the door to release this. More force does not overcome an anti-loid pin, so consider this tool a finesse style approach rather than a muscle through. Thanks for reaching out and for your consideration in the TRI-BLADE!

Trying to figure out the big difference between LT and the V2
@intothesmoke5714
@intothesmoke5714 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Chris thanks for checking us out! Have been meaning to do a comparison video of the two. In terms of functionality towards loiding a latch behind a security plate, they both function the same. The main differences between the V2 and LT are the V2 has an additional blade which offers the option to further extend the tool for special circumstances (not often encountered) as well as the V2 has a few more features - 8mm and 10mm wrenches for battery terminal removal at MVC's

Definitely not a go-to tool. It's a tool to be used inbetween the "try" and "pry". After the 5th call, the tip on the blade broke off. Zero successes and wound up using the irons or rabbit tool every call.

Hey, sounds like you were not using the blade with proper technique. You are definitely right in the sense that the TRI-BLADE will not loid every single door, however it has worked well for me along with many others.....ANOTHER TOOL IN THE TOOL BOX. Feel free to reach out to us on our contact us page to see if we can help you out with that broken blade. Stay safe brother!

I've watched this and another training video multiple times before and after each use. Even used a wedge to gap a little more to get the tool fully in the space between the door and frame. Pretty simple instructions. Tip goes into space, slide up, apply slight downward pressure and apply minor pull pressure on door. I will contact on page and give it another go. Definitely would like to be able to make this a go to tool.

@@borninfire6222 Same here brother, as mentioned no tool will work on every door as some doors are not able to be loided due to the anti-loiding pin. Sometimes even with gapping the door the pin is still engaged. Feel free to reach out through our site - www.intothesmoke.ca or on social media IG or FB I'd be happy to discuss this further. My best advice for learning technique is to practice on a door without a security plate or lock. This way you can visually see where the tool is attacking as well as get a feel for what works and what doesn't. You would be surprised but more force with the tool will sometimes actually cause the latch to bind. It is definitely a tool that requires practice to improve success with different techniques. I personally will try 4 different approaches on a door that appears stuck as sometimes a lock needs to be loided from the bottom rather than the top for instance (based on my experience) ..... Stay safe brother!

@@bradmccoy7996 once again we can certainly appreciate your concern for public safety, the TRI-BLADE however cannot break into a private residence with a deadbolt without first damaging the deadbolt mounting plate first. In this case a simple screw driver would also work, the tool is designed to gain entry into common areas of buildings with key fob access. Once again this tool is designed for and used by emergency service personnel lawfully, in no way do we promote or condone illegal use of our product.

Is this better than the Seattle Searat rapid access tool????
@intothesmoke5714
@intothesmoke5714 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Juan, thanks for checking us out! The TRI-BLADE and the SEARAT are similar BUT very different tools. The SEARAT is a well built tool however it is much larger in size and heavier in weight, adding unnecessary bulk in your turnout gear. Our TRI-BLADE is designed to offer a variety of functions while maintaining an exceptionally compact and lightweight design. The overall design of the tool's functionality and placement of cut-outs (wrenches etc) have been well thought out for actual use rather than simply advertising "another function". The tool's size makes it easy to carry on your person at all times so you'll always have it when you need it. Functions of the TRI-BLADE include: 1) Latch Wedge - used for over coming security plates that obstruct ordinary access to the door latch with a regular shove knife. 2) Modified Shove Knife - our modified “over sized” shove knife design makes this extremely easy to use and control the latch. 3) Residential Gas Wrench - used to shut off gas supply to the structure. 4) O2 Cylinder Wrench - used to open and close oxygen cylinders. 5) 8mm Wrench (12 point) - intended for but not limited to, battery removal at MVC’s as part of vehicle de- energization. 6) 10 mm Wrench (12 point) - intended for but not limited to, battery removal at MVC’s as part of vehicle de- energization. 7) Window Punch - for gaining access to a vehicles interior and glass removal as part of a vehicle extrication. 8) Serrated Edge - used to cut a range of materials from seat belts to rope. 9) Through The Lock Tip - used as a means of manipulating a lock mechanism, when TTL tactics are used. 10) Hose Coupling Wrench - used to loosen / tighten hose couplings on 45mm - 65mm hose Learn more - www.intothesmoke.ca
