This show could’ve been better if they tried/were allowed to be their own thing. The scooby doo IP is literally tacked on as an afterthought, take away the names and fashion and nothing in the show is actually scooby doo. The murders don’t count, scooby doo does not hold an iron grip on the concept of murderers.

I'd have made Fred the good looking Jock who's smarter than he lets on, I'd have made Shaggy a victim of circumstance and Fred's best friend. Maybe even have Shaggy be framed for the murder because he was the last person seen with the victim who turned out to be his girlfriend all along. I would have even put Scooby in there, like, perhaps Shaggy's girlfriend was the daughter of a scientist who was working on a way to make animals communicate with humans in order to make humanity learn to coexist with their fellow lifeforms on Earth or something and she was trusting Shaggy to look after Scooby after her father disappears or something
