is it dangerous being an insulator? do you get lots of overtime? what does the pay look like?
@davidkoziar18115 жыл бұрын
It can be dangerous depending on where you work and what you're working on. Some refineries have h2s which can potentially leak into your area. You might also have to work at heights and do a lot of lifting of materials. Sometimes you'll be in tight spots where it's difficult to move freely and there's hazards from other trades in the area such as cranes, testing, etc. Overtime depends on the job you're on and how much work there is. If there's a lot and a tight schedule, then yes, lots of overtime. Unionized Journeymen start at 41$ for industrial work. Non union and commercial can be 10$ less or more per hour.
@arathaemaxus52505 жыл бұрын
David Koziar More often than not, we are the last trade on site. If any project is behind, which they can be often, we get lots of OT lol. Probably one of the best paying jobs I’ve had. I’ve done a lot worse jobs for a lot less.

I am glad to see other people agree with the other post that have been made that this is incorrect way to insulate this video should be deleted . when you screw the alum in such places you are opening an area where water shall get in and you all wonder why their is CUI ( CORROSION UNDER INSULATION )

The guy has plenty of things to make fun of but one thing he did is one of my personal pet peeves, that is the reveal at the butt laps, the 2 major points of putting the band on the end is to keep pressure on the end for better water shed and to hide the lap making the line look like one long piece of metal
@arathaemaxus52506 жыл бұрын
jdw463 I used to do it that way then I was told to stop. Apparently if they have to remove metal for any reason they know where the seems are. Although I’d say being only 3’ I cant see why it would be difficult....

you should be ashamed of yourself for making a video like this ...you must have to much time In the shop ..I believe you will need more experience in the field as an insulator , everything you have done I believe was wrong ..you should never use screws . that gives another place where water can get in ..where is your vapor barrier ?? I have been insulating for close to 26 years and I would have fired you for the lack of experience. . sorry man for such negative
@dariocasarez4538 жыл бұрын
it's hot service insulation don't need vapor barrier vapor barrier it's only use in cold service insulation

george mcpeek for hot work on hard dollar it’s passable anyone who is in the trade knows every insulator has there own way of doing thing and I don’t agree with how he dose his install but everything gets slammed with calk and beat to piss by other trades and operators anyways so no reason to go the exstra mile but if it was time and material I would personally encourage a different method
