I had a red 1969 one. Used it til 18, bought when 10. Had a a 1/2 section of sch 40 pipe going from the steering head to the tail light because the frame broke at the seat/tank junction. The frame tube back at the rear axle also broke and the gear box was pretty messed up. I cast a upper triple clamp to hold my CZ 250 handle bars in metal shop in High School. Still riding with my ktm 300xc or my ktm 500exc. The seat base had to be strengthened also. It was toast when I gave it to a neighbors kid.

Love the video!! Just a quick question though. I know you made your own tool but I was also wondering if there's an actual tool and what would it be called?

Was looking for a comparison between the 650 and 250 then started noticing the scenery. Dodge, Lionshead etc. Big O. LOL.

Can't wait to tear into mine and get them both back up and going. I actually have three of them but two are rough and the 86 that's like new has the rod through the cases. So since it's it such good shape cosmetics wise and has so many aftermarket parts with it. And the 84 is so rough cosmetics wise I'm just going to rib that motor and rebuild it for the 86 and all the left over parts will go on the 85 after I rebuild it. It actually runs but just for piece of mind I'm gonna throw a new piston and rings in it.

Great video, good job. Anybody have a set of YZ 250 forks, 1981?

That tool you made with the 20mm nut… is that nut an M20 that measures 30mm across the O.D., or a nut with a 20mm O.D.? Thanks for the vid. Super helpful!

Perfect. To the point and simple! Is this process the same for the 1980 175DT? I know Yamaha didn’t change their process much as far manufacture for their DT models but thought I’d just ask anyway. Will use this video for reference, thank you!

Cool bikes! Can you please tell me what kind of Gas your using in the bike? I'm afraid of pump gas with the ethanol. Do you use a race fuel or ethanol free gas? Thanks.

Thanks for the vid, DR. Took me a day, compared to your 18 minutes, but my original 84 has some new knees! A large chunk was consumed trying to engineer a tool to get inside the star. I used a threaded brass hose adapter pounded into a socket. Worked like a charm. I plan on checking out more of your vids.

I’ve been eyeballing an IT200 for sale near me for a couple months. I thought it would be impossible to restore and find parts for but then I discovered it’s the same engine in the Blaster quads. I think I’m gonna pick it up and start working on it. Hoping I can snag it for under $700.
