Paying fair price means receive a great product and people who work and made it earn a good salary. Thats why it is an imperative spend in one good priduct, fabricated in countries where dont explote people… i bought 2 pair of boots in a month because i am absolutey happy with the first boots (trafalgar) and waiting for the Chelsea boots…. I never see such quality before…

its a pityCheaneys e commerce is run like an old ladies knitting circle seems to be run part time by amatuers the returns and refund procedure is exeedingly slow in this day and age and the communication is ...well maybe by carrier pigeon ? because they certainly do not keep their customers informed by any means as to having received a return or aknowledge a timescale for a replacement or refund . Cheaney makes a good product and it trades very much so on it history and heritage but it seems the 21st century way of tarding via e commerce and e mail etc etc is very very low on its list of priorites , such a shame but it has a long way to go to catch up to even a good E Bay seller let alone an industry leader like M& S or John Lewis in that arena .

Why their factory interiors and machines look like 100 year old and never cleaned? I would not purchase any of such shoes knowing workers do their job in a dirty and perhaps unsafe environment.

For this price level, I am expect a handwelt shoe, not a goodyear machine welt, what is going on with Edward Green, they used to making all handwelt shoe when I was a kid.
@ahpadt3 жыл бұрын
youre not gonna find a british made handwelted shoe for anything beneath bespoke i think. the labour would be very expensive. vass may do it but ive seen them cut corners on for example the heel stack being in paper rather than leather...

I’d try Laszlo Vass or Heinrich Dinkelacker from Budapest: not that elegant, half of the price, but handcrafted.

how old are you ? at least since the early 80s it's goodyear welted, and probably late 70s too. Every manufacture in Northampton use goodyear welting. Unless you want to pay 5k plus
@terminator90992 жыл бұрын
@Will Swift hand welting is using a specific knife to carve a wall into the sole, that will be used to stitch. It is a more noble way, more difficult. However the wall will not endure as much resoling as goodyear welted : glued wall on the sole, which can be changed a few more times. The 100% leather way will rot !

Dear Martin, CHEANEY Shoes, Hyth II at £365, Cheaney could not produce a pair that matched. Over a few weeks, three pairs were sent from the factory to Covent Garden, all had the same fault, the bubbly grain was good on one shoe but smooth on the other, we could not accept them. We contacted Mr Church who said that no one else complains??? So instead of taking a look at the process where it could be improved it was just ignored, implying that they produced mismatched shoes but people buy them anyway. We mentioned this to Loake, who make a similar shoe with what appeared to be a similar problem with the photograph on their website. The difference being that Loake agreed to replace the photo with a pair that matched and thanked us for bringing it to their attention. So if and when Cheaney can be bothered to make a pair of Hyths ii in Mahogany that match we might reconsider purchase. As an interim we purchased what are considered to be the best looking brogues that have been seen, the Arthur III Oxford, in dark leaf. Stunning pair of shoes with deep rich reddish brown colour...by Cheaney! There should be more individuals like Martin Grey in this world who appear to take pride in their work and the shoes that are sold, a rare characteristic these days.

I live in Desborough and I am lucky enough to have 7 pairs of Cheaney shoes/boots, they wear well and look good with either a suit or smart casual and will last for years far exceeding the value paid initially. Well Done Cheaney.

Hi Vince, I wear Cheaney shoes after buying 2 pairs of Church's. Both pairs were expensive and not of particularly good quality. They aren't very comfortable either. With Cheaney, they feel comfortable from the off. Yes, you know they are new shoes but they feel much more like they were actually made for my feet like a bespoke pair would be. I have just got out my Brixworth Balmoral boots to wear tomorrow. They are no longer made but remind me of Victorian Gentleman's boots. Dave.
