Perhaps. But it was the best I could find on Airbnb at the last minute. In any event I've been comfortable here this month, and next month I' moving on to Playa del Carmen! :-)

What you forgot to mention is that (1) these massive blooms of sargassum only began arriving a decade or so ago and that (2) the cause has been determined to be the influx of agricultural fertilizer runoff into the Congo, Amazon and Orinoco rivers which feed the algae and leads to blooms. So people are the cause of this mess.
@DW_Walker3 күн бұрын
You are right, I should have mentioned that -but at the time I created the video I wasn't aware that this had been the cause, only that the sargassum had been increasing over the years...
@Scofield19482 күн бұрын
@@DW_Walker It's yet another mess brought about, at least in part, by human-caused global heating.

Was just there last week, I couldn't wait to go see this town, I have never in my entire life seen sooo much trash along the stretch of the streets and the edge between the beach and city ! So much seaweed, the city is starting to smell !
@DW_Walker20 күн бұрын
Gosh, sorry to hear that Puerto Morelos was such a disappointment for you. I enjoyed my stay there very much earlier this year but the Sargassum seaweed wasn't too bad then. It tends to come and go depending upon the waves and the weather. As for the littering and the trash, yes, that's a typical Mexican problem ...actually pretty much a third world issue in many other poor countries that I have visited as well.

Well JijiB, I wish you all the success in the world and I'm sure you will achieve those goals. I was very pleased and flattered when you told me that you enjoyed my video posts last month, and it was so nice to run into you. :-) Right now I'm exploring Oaxaca and I'm currently working on a new video about the city. (I've never been here before and it's been wonderful new place to explore.) 50 is such a good age. . . The first time I visited Playa Del Carmen I was 50 years old myself! Playa was 1/10th the size back then and that was my first introduction to the Mayan Riviera. Of course I loved it, and I've been returning ever since. Currently however I'm set upon traveling for the rest of this year and won't make it back to Playa until maybe January ...we'll see. Meanwhile thanks again, and best wishes for a wonderful life in Mexico -and of course Playa Del Carmen! -Don Walker ( Grampa! )

Maybe one day, you'll add travel to Panama to your list of places to visit very affordably. We are in Puerto Armuelles, oceanfront at the Pacific, the historic town largely developed by the Chiquita Banana company, but they pulled out I believe in 2008. The town is still trying to economically recover from the loss of those jobs, but is truly coming along with infrastructure improvements, and beautification of the town and beachfront. We feel extremely safe here and there is very little crime other than "crimes of opportunity" where things left out in a yard may disappear. But we don't worry about break ins, nor about crime againsr us, The overall crime rate in Panama is very low, and we feel safe even walking at night, and even in the cities. Being aware, being friendly, looking folks in the eye and saying hello or have a great day in Spanish is enough to help folks realize you are "trustworthy" and worth treating well. Back to beautification, Chiriqui (our province), Baru (our district) and Puerto Armuelles are doing many things to help improve the region and Puerto Armuelles and especially targeting beautification and trying to attract more retirees, more ecotourisn, and more business investment here. Puerto recently installed a Cinta Costero walkway and bikeway along the beachfront. g.co/kgs/FGLV4bZ They have been rebuilding the fisherman's wharf, which has been in severe disrepair. They plan to add markets for fishermen, farmers, and craft vendors there, last I heard. it's quite pretty now, compared to how it was before some of these projects. There are plenty of affordable accommodations *AirBNB* is a good resource, or just asking folks like us. Booking.com is less likely to know of many of the places here, as many folks don't list their rentals, they just rely on word of mouth. But those who do list tend so use AirBNB. Perhaps a place for your to consider traveling in the future.....

Paul and I really enjoyed this video Don. Your videography skills are truly growing, especially in your editing work. Love the mix of video sections with still photos, and the wide variety of interesting transitions you've included. I'm still a relative beginner (okay intermediate) on doing a good job taking the videos in the first place, and then skillfully editing, plus including still photos, and I don't do much yet with transitions. Playa del Carmen, located along Mexico's Riviera Maya, is a vibrant coastal town renowned for its stunning beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and lively atmosphere. Once a quiet fishing village, it has transformed into a bustling tourist destination offering a blend of natural beauty, cultural experiences, and modern amenities. The town features the famous Quinta Avenida (Fifth Avenue), a pedestrian thoroughfare lined with shops, restaurants, bars, and nightlife venues, providing a dynamic backdrop for visitors. Playa del Carmen also serves as a gateway to nearby attractions such as the ancient Mayan ruins of Tulum and the island of Cozumel. With its charming mix of traditional Mexican culture and contemporary comforts, Playa del Carmen attracts travelers seeking both relaxation and adventure. Great video, Don Walker!
