I read the book as a kid and was fascinated. When this came out in 1980, I watched every episode. The tech hasn't aged well, but the societal caution was clear, about the environment, and other considerations. Set in 2007 it was ambitious.

I love what Mulcahy yelled out when breaking up a fight in Post-Op: "So I suggest you obey what it says in the Good Book: Love thy neighbor or I'll punch your lights out!"

Ray Bradbury : un très grand auteur de SF. Je ne savais pas qu'il avait été adapté pour la télévision, mais les extraits retracent exactement ce que je m'étais imaginé... Merci.

The only time Jesus Christ appearing in a film/show actually scared me. Brilliantly done and not at all blasphemous.

It was a really big deal when it showed on tv. I remember tv guide's coverage of it - talking about the sets for the martian city and my older brother looking forward to it as a fan of the book. Yes,..it had some problems but it had it's own haunting quality that's kept it a kind of cult classic. For years, I've often wondered what a newer version might look like. That reminds me of the first dune and the new version being well received. I wonder if such a thing could happen here with a redo? Or would that be a bad idea? 🤔

I was a teenager when this was first shown ...I thought it was the most profound and thought provoking sci fi tv production I had ever seen outside of Star Trek ...so much so,that I was inspired to read the book not long after the final episode ...wonderful series...

I remember this series. I was 12 years old when it came out. I remember being fascinated by it.

Some of the special effects are awful, even for the time (like the Sand-ship sequence). The opener with the Viking probe on Mars was hastily put together as the series was pre-empted by it landing and showing there were no Martian cities. And it is rather too obvious that the outdoor scenes are not on Mars. The upside is, the Martians themselves are superbly done: the ornate masks they wear for example. And the city ruins look suitably alien and desolate, all with the magnificently haunting music.
