I do think they have those feelings you spoke of on the video because I notice after their moment she was next to him ad kind of had her hand on his, I noticed this especially because after my first pairing ever (1 week ago) my female Venus actually walked over to Sid the male and did something similar, almost like a bonding moment in the moments directly following mating she walked up to him, had her hand on his and kind of licked him(kissed?) and then stood there a minute before leaving him alone. Just thought I’d share that.

I had no idea it wasnt a good idea to get a young crested! Went to an expo that was vetted and they were all selling minimum 3 month olds! I got a young crested gecko and im very nervous to try to handle her. Shes become tolerant to my hand in the enclosure, or sitting by it. But my hand/finger? She sits for a second, and then scurries away. Do you have any tips? Ive been trying to sit and get her use to my presence, and im trying to do a consent based technique that ive seen people recommend where if they walk away leave let them go but if they chill to just chill with them. Tips?
@SRCReptiles3 ай бұрын
So sounds like you're doing good so far! Having your hand near the baby and getting them used to your scent is great! And being near the tank is good as well. When it comes to handling, just being patient and letting them figure out you arent a threat is a good first step😊 hand walking would be my next suggestion but i'd wait at least a month before doing any extensive handling that way the baby can settle in, after that, just gently picking them up and letting them walk or jump from one hand to the next will get them familiar with how they'll be handled in the futre, and dont worry if you dont try to full on hold the baby for a while if you're worried you might hurt them, usually as long as you get them used to you within that 1st year they should do just fine with adjusting to being handled😊
@morgangossen97393 ай бұрын
@SRCReptiles thank you so much! Really good to hear I'm doing the right things. Research has paid off. Just wish I would've known it'd be a longer process, but that's ok too. Im excited to get her trust in the future! Love the video btw!
@SRCReptiles3 ай бұрын
@@morgangossen9739 thank you! And you'll bond better with a young gecko vrs older, but some first time owners have where the babies end up passing due to stress or improper care, but i dont think you'll have to worry about that! My 3 eldest geckos turn 10 this year and of those 3, ember, the one i got at 3 months old, i have to best bond with, so its rewarding once you get everything figured out 😊

I really need help with my gecko. My baby gecko hasnt been eating and is turning a more pale color and im really concerned. Ive tried dabbing food on his chin and different consistencys but he just wont eat and hes looking really ill.
@SRCReptiles4 ай бұрын
So best advise would be a vet visit, but until then, have you by chance tried offering a cricket or dubia roach? If not if you try i'd rip the head of the bug off so the gecko can taste the juices, this usually will encourage then to eat the bug. Also what brand of food do you feed, what flavor, and what type of water do you use to mix the food? If the water isnt filtered in some way, chemicals in tap water can cause sickness. Depending on brand and flavor, some geckos will refuse to eat, i've always found either Pangea Reptile or Gentle Geck on amazon with the insect & fruit flavors are best recieved and offer the best bit of protein
@Pops_Dragons3 ай бұрын
@@SRCReptiles Apologies for the late reply i've really been working to discover things. Turns out he will only want to ever eat insects, i've tried to include the Pangea but they just wont have it. My question to you is can an only insect diet support a gecko? Will I have to add something to make an only insect diet sustainable? I will try to push pangea every day ( with different flavors) but it just make them so nervous and they shy away from eating it.

@SRCReptiles5 ай бұрын
Since its a baby and they're squirmy, maybe try putting some damp sphagnum moss in there and see if the baby crawling through that may help dislodge the stuck shed, since at 3 months it'd be super tricky to try and use tweezers without harming them, i'd also keep their humidity a lil higher during the day when they are in their tank and make sure there is enough stuff for them to possibly rub against for any future sheds😊
