Thanks for the explanation. I just moved into an apartment that has the same set up. I’ve asked the landlady repeatedly to fix it so I decided to fix it myself. It took less time fixing it and then finding the parts. I appreciate this video and your explanation. Thank you.

You can not tile over drywall use backer board or that's going to be a mess in a couple of years.

Just butt the new pieces of drywall up against the flinge and then fill the gap with drywall mud let the mud dry overnight then mud again let dry sand smooth then paint the walls then chaulk around the shower let dry then touch up around the shower with paint.

Help my first Phillips screw is stripped and I can’t even remove the turning knob to get started, how do I get the stripped screw off? I noticed your knob was cracked in half would I have to resort to breaking it? To bypass the stripped screw? I have a mixet shower handle just like this one! Thanks

When it is installed, should I be able to adjust the temperature without adjusting the volume without holding the volume knob in place? Should they work independently? Thanks.

If you drop the red dot down how can you attaché the temperature level in the top position? My shower temp is setup the opposite and I want to turn it 180*, but then wouldn’t I attached the handle on the bottom? The other issue I have is when I turn the main back on, it’s harder to rotate the the temp handle.

Where is the water barrier? And, you need to cover those areas that are missing the sheet rock paper or it’s going to bubble, quickly. Is this guy a pro ????

I noticed very little thin set on the back of the tile, that is why they came up so easy. I just did a removal of tile from a kitchen and dining room a couple of weeks ago and we rented the same tool with the sharper blade and the mortar (thin set) we removed did not come off that easy. Your stuff is coming off very easy which probably means there was not a good bond in the first place.

I just finished a similar project. My mortar was 1.5 inch thick and machine I rented just got hung up on pretty thick wire every few inches. In the end, 5 foot long crowbar allowed me to rip through wire mesh a few inches at a time and remove in 2x3 foot chunks frequently using aviation snips to cut through connecting wire. Soooo many staples and cleanup an absolute nightmare. Wonder how much I saved doing it myself, probably should have hired it out. Brutal work. I've had to do this to 2 similarly constructed showers. I feel that there is really no easy way out, its going to be messy, heavy and labor intensive.

Thank you so much. I live in an apartment in Vegas, and can you believe the maintenance can't figure out the hot is cold and cold is hot issue! Well your simple suggestion to reverse the orientation of the cartridge 180 degrees solved the problem! Can't thank you enough for taking the time to do this video. I tried on my own, but I was taking the cartridge out and putting it back in upside down which did not help. Obviously you have to leave it in and turn it 180! Woohoo!😎

So did you end up muding around the shower flange. Did you use tape on the flange side too then caulk ? I’m about to do this and was gonna leave the sheet rock up at first but then everywhere I look everybody is doing direct to stud so I’m gonna do it direct to stud and finish the sheet rock around the edges just wondering how to finished it. Thanks

So once you take out the drain, does that disconnect the tub from the pipes below?
@tomcole3846
@tomcole3846 2 жыл бұрын
It does. Generally, the drain is threaded and it screws into your tub drain plumbing. There is one additional part, which is the overflow drain, so disassemble that as well.

Had a question. How did you remove tile from under the cabinet? I have tiles that are partially buried under the toe kick of the kitchen cabinets. How do I create a seam right where the toe kick is? I do not want the hassle of removing the kitchen cabinets. Only want to remove tile from the visible area.

I was doing a diy tile job and started removing existing tile using a Bosch bulldog extreme. Right on the first tile I knew this was not going to be easy 😂 we almost gave up but had already broken down a tile so there was no going back. Saw this video and thought of giving it a shot. Got the same equipment from Home Depot and it worked like a breeze 🙂 this trolley can be lowered down to make a steep angle so that does not damage the sub floor. Thanks for the great idea. It definitely saved a lot of knee and elbow grease 😛
