Have you ever seen EMD locomotives pulling passenger trains in Hong Kong? Knowing that there is a video on your channel of the 8000 pulling a double-decker train out of service, I don't know if at some point in its history it also pulled passenger trains apart from freight ones. And I don't know if the mail car, at the time, was a passenger car of the Chinese railways or if it was a passenger car owned by the Kowloon Canton Railway.

EMD locomotives do not pull passenger trains except cases like EMU rescue task. The out of service double-decker train you mentioned is the KTT set (loco-coaches-loco). EMD or ER20 only pull the KTT set from Depot <-> Hung Hom Terminus when there is 1 KTT locomotive under overhaul or maintenance.

Sorry I don't get your question. KTT locomotive is ABB Lok2000, which is class RE460 used in Switzerland.

No. KTT (a loco-coaches-loco set) is fully owned by Kowloon Canton Railway. Other cross boundary trains are from China Railway.

Yes. We had 10+ northbound and southbound cross boundary trains daily. All stopped now since Covid 19 outbreaks in 2020.

In most of the videos on your channel, the 8000 series does completely different tasks to the counterpart we have in Europe. Why do I ask? In Europe, the Eurorunner, which is the name of the 8000 series base locomotive, is widely used to pull both freight and passenger trains. On the other hand, in your case it is very different. Watching some videos in which the 8000 appears, or it is maneuvering with some maintenance wagons, or it is doing a transfer of a train out of service (as is the case in this video). What does what I'm saying mean? Not counting the number of times it pulls the mail van, in no video does the 8000 appear pulling freight wagons along with the mail van.

Basically we don't arrange specific daily tasks based on locomotive types. All locomotives were used in both freight service and overnight maintenance trains. However ER20 is banned for crossing boundary so they are relatively less used in freight trains service, and spend most of the daylight time at yard. Of course East Rail is a commuter service route, all locomotives do also have to be used in emergency / rescue purpose.

One thing that surprises me about the EMD locomotives you had in Hong Kong is that they go backwards in most cases when pulling a freight train. Why do I say it? Because in most of the videos, it was rare the video in which an EMD locomotive of this type had the short hood facing the tracks, instead of the first wagon. However, in Europe, Africa, Oceania and some Latin American countries, locomotives of this type, when pulling a freight train, the part of the short hood is the part that faces the tracks for a reason: greater field of vision. . I don't know why in your case it was completely different knowing that there is a greater field of vision in the part of the short hood. Different were those of the series from 50 to 59, since there is no front glass. thing that the series from 60 to 68 do have it.

Thanks for your comment. The main reason is, we do not have a turntable or tracks to change direction of a locomotive. All EMD we had have 2 control stands, therefore no problems.

The red and white wagon behind the locomotive, what is it? A box car? I ask because I've been watching several of your videos, and in most of them the boxcar is either pulled by a single locomotive or two, or it's with freight cars.

而家自2022年5月15日,東鐵線南端終點站由紅磡延伸至金鐘,並再次同荃灣線交匯,連同南港島線,港島線成為4線轉乘站。不過而家列車並縮短至9卡並採用新列車,同時東鐵線13座車站(除咗紅磡站以南)已經加固月台結構準備安裝閘門。長度由原來的41.5公里延長至47.5公里
