So why does the engine want less timing on ethanol? I had assumed it would want slightly more timing because the octane rating of E-85 is higher than pump gas, and it takes longer to burn. What octane was the regular gasoline you used?

I have a crazy build plan for the k48. But even i have sensible daily numbers aith it. 700rwhp ish probably 750 range to be more exact low boost twincharged. Modern blowers with integrated bypass valves. Idea is low boost itll have that 700 all over and loads of torque. And act kinda like an ls3 or ls7 but strung out and able to go high rpms. But also be able to turn boost up and have it not bypass. Or various set ups. It conpounds but the boost is low say from 750 to 1k. Boost goes up still bypasses by similar range but response is a bit different. Then they dont bypass by compound and goes to 1200 to 1400. Max boost no bypass like 1800 but for standing mile events. Inside a superlite slc. Daily tune is for performance and shenanigans but also short shifting around town. But also cheaper performance street tires on a track. 1000hp ish for real track and race tires. On track. Anything above like 1200 is gonna be for drag racing and mostly the torque. Gearing it kinda like a ford gt or american car. But keeping in mind a higher red line. And more gears. Normally more so rpm reduction but idea is split the ratio gaps kinda. Not too close not too wide. But im also gonna probably be going 87mm stroke 88mm to 90mm bore. Saenz custom forged ti rods. Similar pistons to his. And billet heads. And potentially tweaking the cylinder sleeves. Diesels use steel sleeves. Alot stronger normally thinner. Gonna see about induction hardening the outside surface. Want good sealing. But wanna increase the strength for safety reasons.

It took Ford 3 try’s to get the timing chain, guides, phasers right? 😂 That checks out. I say this as an ‘87 F-250 owner. My 460 V8 original timing gear teeth were Nylon.

OE’s will measure “time to torque” At a few rpm points: At cruising rpm/load range examole 2200rpm 70kpa map. Throttle is moved to 100% and the time it takes to reach peak or a “target” torque number is measured. This type of testing is repeated from 1500-4500rpm ranges. Transmission control/target gear vs speed is then also based off this data. 📈 🎉❤

11:36 i keep hearing mixed reviews on how reliable knock sensors are on higher hp applications but no one gets specific with it, im trying to find a ecu for my 427 sbf e85 10-12psi and am wondering if I should look for a knock sensor or if they will cause unwanted issues in the future, I mainly want them as a safety and for the tuning purposes as our blow through carb just ate 5 pistons...

in your experiance are knock sesnors a reliable tuning tool for a drag racing right around 1000hp e85 and 10-12psi of boost? looking to switch to efi trying to select a ecu, wondering if knock sensors are going to be something I want to use or if they will give weird issues
