The only real Techno was back in the 90's, preferably the Acid-Trance style stuff. Nice glitchy work here.

@kosmikmusa Bought most of them 2nd hand for a good price or with big discounts through shops who wanted to get rid of them. If you are patient enough you can make a 6U system that doesn't cost so much.

Is there any possebility to use Clouds as a insert/send effect in the Mixer? Great Video. Greetz
@ethermod307
@ethermod307 28 күн бұрын
Of course you can do that, but there is a mix knob that you can mix the wet granular effect of the module with the dry sound. Also bare in mind the output of Clouds is extremely loud!
@Modular-hl9fr
@Modular-hl9fr 28 күн бұрын
@@ethermod307 Whats in my mind is, sending different sources to the stunning reverb of Clouds or blending it in to different sounds. Like Hihats or Snare etc. I own my Clouds since almost 10 years, and dreaming of Clouds as a send effect for Mixer...
@ethermod307
@ethermod307 28 күн бұрын
@@Modular-hl9fr That's not difficult, you need a mixer with sends out and returns in. Just keep the volume really low. I used Clouds as a "end-of-chain" module, I think it works great because its preamp is high quality. I'm sending all sounds into a modular mixer then the stereo output to Clouds and then to my interface for recording. BUT this is like getting a Ferrari and driving 50km/h in the city. Clouds is a granular monster, not jus a simple reverb.
@Modular-hl9fr
@Modular-hl9fr 28 күн бұрын
@@ethermod307 Oh i am totally aware of that. Its just a matter of "what is in my head and what does it sound if i can realize that". Clouds is my end of chain as well, running the parasite Firmware. The looping delay Mode is still one of my favourit modes. And a core piece of my sound design.

Beautiful sounds. I love a feedback patch that's not too complex. It still sums into a singular mass, but you also get a sense of the specific parts of the process rather than everything going straight to spaghetti.

Well said! I use these sessions to grab the parts that I like for a bigger collage composition. So I'd rather have simple interesting components than a busy soundscape.

Super interesting! I really appreciate how these are resources that are not only interesting on their own, but also to start to hear how you are personally thinking through them and engaging with them for your work. I personally really enjoy hearing about those connections for artists and the relationships between their thinking and their music. Thanks for making this! 😁

I love negative comments but never get any on my own videos. perks of being a small channel I guess. Think I fall into the adventurous listener category as I'm not well educated on music history or early electronic music. I just like to hear sounds that sound like electricity being sculpted. I think a video like this is sort of pointless because I feel experimental music is either you get or you don't. People saying "noise machine goes bleep bloop, write some real music" are never going to have the mental faculties to appreciate subtleties or step outside of their own personal perspective.

Me 20 years ago I wouldn't have any idea about any of this. But I had curiosity and respect for people who did and I was willing to learn. Obviously you can educate yourself and you can keep listening to the most intriguing stuff. My brain loves a tickle, trying to understand what is going on is the most pleasant experience. Every person is wired differently but I cannot accept the word "pointless" you use. With the information available today anyone can learn how to approach and appreciate anything they feel curious about and attract it to. Cheers!

I appreciate this. I think that KZbin is better thought of not as a public space, but instead as a million rooms that channel creators open to the public. When you come to someone's room, you should be a respectful and curious guest. Thanks for inviting us into your room. 😁

Revisiting this great walkthrough. Still love it. Since you are transitioning a lot, do you have a way to monitor what the next section is sounding before you transition it in? Does your mixer have for example good enough cueing ability for headphone checking before sending it out to the house? Thanks again for sharing.

Thnx for going through it again in depth! All the elements of the set are well prepared from before, so I know all the sounds I have in my disposal. So there is no need to check the sounds before I bring them in. I also have practised how to play live with each sound so I know what to do in order to have variations in sound. And I leave the rest to the moment.

Way too expensive for bleeps and bloops. Does it actually make musical sounds?
@ethermod307
@ethermod307 3 ай бұрын
I would be rather careful to use the words "bleeps and bloops". This is a well-crafted noise improvisation session with two experimental instruments as a stereo pair. What you call "musical sounds" can be anything, 99% of youtubers make that easy to be found. If you want something more exciting and hopefully inspiring you should check the drone sessions that i did with the same instruments: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJC4lKWpeq96eposi=eVNucj9UVMReCmoK

Congratulations! I'm really enjoying what I've heard so far, and I'm looking forward to going back for a deeper listen later. Love the idea of 'liberated sound' as you describe it. I've been thinking a lot about how to forward the simple experience of encountering sound in my work. I think it works best as you've done here with a focused instrumentation and sound palette-to say "this is enough, just listen to it".
