Thanks to nicktendo I finally found a short that I thought was lost forever to the sands of time and only lived in my memory. Back in the day I thought this was just a pencil test done by some college kids, not by Laika of all companies xD

Hey Hamstersandwich - I actually wrote this commercial. I don't have a copy though. Could you send it to me?

It's insane to me that this song is over 16 years old. I feel so old and yet this song is timeless to me.

The fact that the music video was made by the same guys who made Coraline makes this song 10 times better than it already is.

This was animated by Laika, the studio that gave us the phenomenal gothic stop motion animated flick Coraline, among other great movies. But the animation, while great, gives me some strong Danny Antonucci vibes, even though I’m sure he never worked at Laika.

I remember on the green line in Chicago there was a very angery guy who was attacking the inside of the train. Like the walls and metal poles and stuff. This song reminds me of him.

They are parasitic twins! That explains why the other guy is so short, he was "born" out of that stitch. More realistically, the larger guy is his organ donor.

A while after the video for Ghost by Mystery Skulls came out, I realized it reminded me of this video. That moment where the skeleton shows its pompadour and the Shaggy expy freaks out, it feels just like when the guy shows his scars in this video and the other guy freaks out.

I don't know about the "organ donor" theory. I thought the guy being pursued represents one of the band members and he was being chased by a crazed fan -- a crazed fan who cut himself at some point in time as a psychotic display of loyalty to the band.

So far, I believe this is the *only* TMBG song in which the singing is full autotune. (And thank for that. Such semi-traditionalists should know better.) Aside from that, I find the animation and art style very inspiring.
@kurtissmo9 жыл бұрын
+James M. Mowery well they have always been a progressive band. Auto tune like everything is a tool and it is up to the artists whether or not if they want to use it as a crutch or make something better. I suppose i get what you are saying but for me tmbg is anything but traditional and I love them for it.
@jamesmowery64909 жыл бұрын
kurtissmo Actually, their FLOOD album which had some of my favorites. like "Dead", "Particle Man" and "We Want A Rock", used plenty of traditional elements.
@kurtissmo9 жыл бұрын
I see what you mean, I suppose I was thinking of traditional in a traditional rock sense. Can't say I disagree with the idea that their stuff with traditional elements is some of there best. I'm Impressed and Shadow Government definitely comes to mind.
@sonicsa318 жыл бұрын
Common misconception this is all talk-boxing/vocoding. The vocoder might pitch correct to prevent uncomfortable tones.
@NimrodWildfire5558 жыл бұрын
I immediately thought of "Man It's So Loud In Here" and "I'm Impressed", but they aren't autotune. They are just songs about robots.

I've never noticed until now, but you can hear when the guy jumps on the chain link fence and when the sewer lid opens and closese, as well as other various background noises of the animation. The attention to detail is amazing.
