Awesome video, i also recommend giving your monitor a bowl of food, and rubbing it while its too busy eating. I could pick up my 6 inch monitor by the tail and make him do a handstand as long as his mouth could still reach the food

My plan if my future snake doesn't want to eat its frozen thawed rodent one day is to give the rodent to my indoor cats. Rodents are one of cats' natural prey items and my younger cat Keplar ate a mouse that got on the house (despite having never seen one before in his life!) so I think that it'll work okay!❤

Is there any way to get African soft furred to stop biting you every time I put my hand in their enclosure?

Dubia roaches are easily the best, and its easy to breed them yourself, if you have a baby savanah monitor you should plan ahead an start your bug colonies so when theyre big its not costing you an arm and a leg to feed them. Dubias & superworms, are daft easy to do. My savanah gets egg an rat only now and then, diet should be more than 80% bugs, fatty liver issues is what causes these eating machines issues.

Can you feed them dog food? I currently serve my Halmahera Merrick dog food as well as vitamin supplements and greens that get switched up. High quality dog food has meat and so does the Raw diet

I’ve recently got a savanna monitor a little over two months ago- first week or so had issues getting him to eat- tried the recommended scrambled eggs and nothing- no crickets, Dubia, super worms, nothing- then I made a hard boiled egg and finally success eating constantly and consistently - now that the winter months are here he has stopped eating all together no mice, dubia, crickets, super worms, nothing- he’s not that big and have done research when he’s this young he should want to eat all the time or, at least be eating regularly- temps at 90° or so- two water dishes large enough to dip in, a heating pad and heat lamp- been playing around with hide sizes- any help would be appreciated- Tia

A reptile vet caution me on feeding exoskeleton creatures in abundance saying they couldn't break down properly....my savannah turns its nose at bugs. Just ground turkey, chicken, salmon, fish, with vitamins and calcium2-3 times a week. Still learning. Thanks so much.

I’ve only had my savannah monitor for about 8 months, I did tons and tons of research before getting him. After I got him I realized there’s so many people that have no clue what they’re doing. It’s pretty sad tbh.

My gf just said I'm a complete idiot. The gf and I were watching monitor videos together, when we seen the thumbnail for this vid says "Tanks kill Savanah Monitors". I immediately blurted out "well no sh*t, even a elephant would be killed if it was run over by tank and/or shot by it". Somehow I totally forgot that aquarium tanks existed even though I have a saltwater literally 5ft away from us.

I'm sorry...I just dont agree...respectfully ofcourse...I raised both of my savvies in a 20 gallon long till they were a year and now they have costume enclosures...but they are healthy....I have never had an issue with tanks...in fact my youngest one around 2 now...would get stressed out in enclosures as a baby I put him in bigger spaces and he wouldn't eat and was always stressed...one day a guy told me take him out of that and put him in a 20 gallon until he about a year old...I put him in and he trived..ate good...was very active and was very comfortable In That tank...now they are in 4 foot by 6 foot enclosures..but was just saying..

My baby savannah (3 months old) hasn't eaten for about 3 weeks now. What do i need to do? basking 110-130. ambient 85-90. cool 75-80. Substrate repti bark 5 in deep (used to be cypress mulch and coconut fiber but was told those could be toxic to it and other reptiles) feed it crickets, dubias, meal worms, even 1 mouse, premium dog food and tried dusting w/calcium and also syringe feeding. Refuses every food i've tried. in a 40 gallon tank rn, getting a larger one (i know it should not be in a tank, I have towels wrapped around it at all times to help it feel secure, my new enclosure is an Animal Plastics enclosure that will be much larger). it has 4 hides and a water dish changed every other day with spring water. It is shedding. It has become very lethargic and is usually in its favorite hide all day. I put socks of mine in for learning my scent. I don't handle it unless syringe feeding ( done that 3 times now.) I don't know what to do. Can anyone help me?

Mine is about to be a year old and I keep him in a 75 gallon tank with live plants, half dirt half soil, water it every day, keep the lights on one side only and the water bowl on the other by the plants, he loves his enclosure, lots of places to hide and a beautiful petrified piece of wood, and it’s an open TOP, but I water it every day and he is very healthy so are my plants 👍
