Why does a video to talk about the history of Melbourne? Not have any Education of the free black slaves that first establish Melbourne had the first church. Please look on Google white brothers Crane Creek monument. Melbourne is more than just white rich people. Now just respect but I love my state and my town and I want all history to be honored.

@@lisabox3958 Guessing you’ve only seen a couple of my videos. I don’t remember ever focusing on any “ rich white people “. Just history as best I can. Please watch my video “ Some history and memories of South Crane Creek, Melbourne, Florida “. Not sure which video of mine, but I located Peter Wright’s grave in Cocoa and I visited Willie Brother’s grave ( a somewhat former friend) grandson of Wright Brothers. Thanks for watching my videos. Peace and love.

Again, thanks for watching but, this video in particular was about a woman who was 100 years old and lived her entire life in Melbourne. A rare historical perspective since she was still quite sharp. A once in a lifetime video for me. And a family connection.

Why are veils about Melbourne's history? Only about white history lion street and the whole Crane Creek area where established originally by a black freed slave. Please add to your video and explore the heritage and history of Crane Creek. It's making milvera look like we only care about our white rich history. Even city Hall to fix the documentation and allow for the free black slaves that were first 2 own land in Melbourne. He was actually a company to Melbourne Crane Creek area by his slave owner who had freed him and brought him down here to help him get established.

My late father graduated from KMI and told of going on the train to Eau Gallee for the winter. He said they camped out and suffered with sand fleas and wild hogs ran through their tents at night. There is a picture of this house online, around the 1950s. There is a birdfeeder on the left-side of the lawn and sunshades over each of the windows. I like the way these neighborhoods and houses looked back then much better than today.

Very interesting and I enjoyed the video! I actually live two blocks from there and I never knew the story until now! I moved to Brevard county in 2010 and it closed before I was even born and I'm old 🤣 a couple of corrections, there is a video of the park and it shows the entrance, the petting zoo and a bunch of other sites that you may want to check out. You said there was no videos and you thought it was because they never turned a profit? No it was because it was between the '60s and I mean that was super long ago and also how many people had camcorders then, but either way I'm sure they did turn a profit at one point and there is a few videos for you to check out?

Appreciated your video. I played hundreds of rounds at PMCC over several years. Started in my Jr Hi days at Southwest, then while on the Mel Hi golf team I played it 5 days a week when Bill Kennedy was the head professional. I caddied for Sandra Post and Donna Caponi in the 2 LPGA events you spoke of. Then after college I turned pro and my first assistant job was with Bob Dolci at PMCC. Left PMCC in early 1975 to join the staff at Pinehurst Country Club in NC. Your video brought back a lot of good memories. It's a shame it didn't survive. Thanks again

Secretariat I think brings that to so many people. Your video was just so nice to watch. I've been watching alot of Secretariat lately because he represents a wonderful time of the past that will never be forgotten. I was only 5 when he was champion so I had no idea who he was, but I knew I was happy. RIP Secretariat

I could talk to you for some time about both the north and south fields. In another episode you spoke of Jake Early. He was groundskeeper at the north fields. He knew me, as his son went to the same HS I did. Jake called me the "last of the choke-up hitters." He once picked Ted Williams off third base twice in one game. Jake was quite a gentleman. When I played in LL, we practiced on the south fields, which might have been changed from their original configurations. In JuCo, my first hit was to LCF on the main field in the North complex. Bruce Bochy was on our club. Goodness, such great memories. Thank yo so much.

In 1974 or so my family seriously considered buying a home along one of the fairways, I don’t remember which hole. We walked through the house under construction. My father saw the growth potential of the Melbourne/Palm Bay Area. Turns out we decided to stay in central Merritt Island. Sad to see the place the way it is now. It reminds me of Royal Oak Country Club in Titusville, FL. I played there for the first time in 1974 in a junior golf tournament run by a woman named Mrs. Olman (not sure of the spelling). The place was so special back then. A drive by it now is a sad one. It was the first time I played a par 72 course as my buddy and I played daily at Sam Snead All American Golf on US1 in Sharpes, which is yet another local course gone forever. We played Sam’s every day during the summer of ‘74 and got dialed in pretty well. We regularly broke 60 there that summer. Good times. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

The video is appreciated, thank you. I, too, walked around as you did about 10 years ago. On our last visit (December, 2023) the gardens, waterfalls, etc. were padlocked. There were signs posted (not too friendly). It was not the positive atmosphere of previous years and times. We used to eat at the restaurant, in its heyday. I was very, very young but have vivid memories of everything. I even have one of the glasses, engraved with the name of the restaurant. The owner was charismatic and positive. He seemed to care about others and their experience. Following his death, he must have been a hard act to follow, if not impossible. Thank you, Mr. Baumgardner, for all the awesome memories. P.S. The employees at the Sam Ash Music store were positive. Our sons are musicians, and we went there not only to see the former Kapok Tree Restaurant grounds (did not happen), but for musical reasons.

Just out of curousity, why did secretariat grandfather have a muslim or Arabic name?
@jm165722 күн бұрын
Your question roused my curiosity so I googled. Wikipedia says Nasrullah the racehorse was born in Ireland & owned by the 3rd “Aga Khan”. AKA the Spiritual Leader of the Shiites (the Shia branch of Islam). He presumably named the horse. Nasrullah is a male given name, meaning Victory of God, commonly found in the Arabic language & used by Muslims.
