It's a nice save, but for me, I'd have been more impressed if they had managed to replace the lost blade material and thus be a restoration and not a conversion.

@RedRustRestoration9 күн бұрын
Hi, it's not the price that matters, it's what you can do with what others would throw away. Regards Thanks for the comment
@karlgustav549011 күн бұрын
except quality knives have all a differential hardening, an hardened part you 've just cut lol... if you dont remake a total and proper heat treatment, your knife is just a piece of metal with a knife design ^^. and if your knife is a €50 cheap knife, with a full factory hardening, you just waisted your time and your money..
@RedRustRestoration9 күн бұрын
Hi, the thing is that the blade never got hot when cutting it, it was a very slow wear, it's like when you sharpen it on a stone the temper is not lost, but in the video it is accelerated by a question of time. Thanks for the comment Regards
@karlgustav54909 күн бұрын
@@RedRustRestoration its not about hot, it's about the differencial hardening. you cut the hardened part, the top of the blade is not hardened, only the edge on around 2 cm is hardened, and you removed it by cutting it. it's what we call a differencial hardening, making a mix between a hard edge and a soft blade. at least on quality knives..like i said, on cheap knives, they are full hardened and in this case, your hardening is ok but it's lot of time and money for a cheap knife.

@RedRustRestoration14 күн бұрын
Hi, good point, the temper never lost it, since the cut was more about wearing down than cutting and it didn't raise the temperature enough to ruin the temper, now it cuts like a Swiss Army knife hahaha. Thanks for the comment, greetings

@RedRustRestoration14 күн бұрын
