HHF had just no good luck in his prime. Whenever he was in a good position for the podium the car failed or he got crashed by someone. Otherwise he would easily won the championship in 1999 in my opinion. He was such a nice guy back then even when he got kicked out by someone he kept calm in the interview. With barrichello he was my favourite driver in this era!

Brundle said Schumacher drove with his brain and Senna drove only with his heart, and therefore Schumacher was the better driver all round. I see what he means. But Schumacher himself said he was "simply born to race" and that he "could never understand why other drivers could not drive as quickly as he did" - that sounds like someone who also had a lot of heart to me.

they shouldn't have been allowed to compete in that championship after what they had done. the only reason why they were so that the fia wouldn't be referred to as ferrari international assistance. of course, not a full decade later, they'd go on to favor mercedes more than they ever did ferrari, starting with the engine regs of 2014, lobbied by merc who were probably already building them by this point in 2008

2001 was the beginning of an end for EJ and Jordan GP. I seriously doubt sacking HHF in the middle of the season and replacing him with Alesi was demanded by Honda. He probably wanted to look tough and in the end made a fool of himself.

Later it would be revealed that EJ wanted to keep HHF, but Honda wanted Sato. A bit ironic that EJ lost Honda & Deutsche Post/DHL anyway at the end of 2002. The rest is history. Fun fact: EJ tried to get HHF back when Fisichella had that crash at Magny-Cours. He also tried to get him for 2003 & again for 2004. On all 3 occasions no luck.

"We really want MIchael Schumacher to have to work for it this year.". Well, funny how the English media never said the same for Hamilton at Mercedes. Also funny how Lando Norris was seized upon after saying that Hamilton "only had his teammate to beat". Of course, the corporate interests influencing F1 (e.g. George Soros who owned Liberty Broadband and also heavily tied to Black Lives Matter), wanted to manufacture the most successful driver of all time to be "black" (even though Hamilton's mother is white). Modern F1 is more akin to WWE wrestling entertainment. Thank God for Red Bull and Verstappen. In a side-by-side comparison between Ferrari 2000-2004 and Mercedes 2014-2020, Mercedes had a more dominant car across the board (e.g. % of pole positions, % of front-row lockouts, % of wins, % of 1-2 finishes, reliability, etc.), yet the media of 2014+ is silent about it.

One recipe to be great is to have a certain level of ruthlessness in them. Michael Jordan, Michael Schumacher, Kobe Bryant, Muhammad Ali, etc. If their style isn't acceptable to others, that means they don't have any choice but to see the great become greater. And THAT'S why others can't achieve what the greats have achieved.

That is rude of Ted to ask “why did you want to resign him, he’s getting on a bit!” Michael Schumacher was still in the game, and he started in 91, David started in 94. David was still performing well.
