Guys, this is a clip from a short film which depicted the expulsion of the Acadians by the British. Yes, there was rape and pilliage, burning of homes and destruction of property and livestock. The result being that the Acadians who did not swear allegence to the Crown were expelled, many of them to Louisianna, and hence the term "Cajuns" to this day. Just to clarify.

@theathiestalaby finally, the reason why you should check your grammar is that as it stands it is difficult to understand what you are trying to say. There is a world of difference between grammar nitpicking and pointing out that a sentence is flat out undecipherable. If you can't see that, I'm genuinely sorry for you.
@Werebat
@Werebat 13 жыл бұрын
@theathiestalaby your criticism is weak. And you still have a strange view of what an Acadian is. They had no interest in "returning" to France, despite some of them being deported there in le Grand Derangement, as they hadn't lived there in generations. Your assertions reveal your lack of knowledge.
@Werebat
@Werebat 13 жыл бұрын
@theathiestalaby thousands of my DESCENDENTS? Really? The only way my DESCENDENTS could be around in 1755 is if I were an Akkadian, not an Acadian. Look it up.
@Werebat
@Werebat 13 жыл бұрын
@theathiestalaby you clearly do not know what an Acadian is. As for your statement, "just get over the fact that the French never have been for ever will be better than any of the four British countries", I just don't know what to make of it. You might love the British but you certainly don't know their language very well.

@theathiestalaby now help me out here, was Acadia founded by, supported by, or propped up by Britain? Which was it? Or are you going to cop out and insist that it's exempt because it didn't have a flag, so that makes what was done in 1755 acceptable? Eddie Izzard had it right about the Brits. Meanwhile I'll just wait for Ireland and India to start thanking Britain for all the generous help.

@TVDOCTOR I am very sorry my dear fellow!! But if you read your'e history books the vast majority of atrocities commited during .....The War of Independence........or The Great Misunderstanding as most British commentators called it retrospect were commited by the Rebel forces esp in the South! The British Army conducted itself in general with the uptmost respect and dignity toward the colonialists. It was in reality America's first Civil war and all the brutalities of this kind of war happened

I'm Acadian, my sister married an Irish guy and I'm with an Indian (from India) woman. So our family is from all over the world, and yet still we all have reason to hate the Brits. :^)
@Werebat

Brit policies, like the policies of all empire builders, ended up biting them back eventually. My family is Acadian. The only Acadian relatives I'm aware of having ever fought in a war were distant ancestors who fought in the American Revolution. They had been children during the expulsion of 1755. I don't think they were fighting for American independence so much as they were fighting because they really hated the British.

@Thisbloodypave You appear very bitter. With all the turmoil and strife there is going on in this world, I think perhaps your line of thinking is a bit bent. The expulsion of the Acadiens was miniscule in comparrison to the atrosities which are going on right now. The object of the excersise was to show, that not much has changed. It's my opinion that people like you keep feeding the fire, through ignorance, prejiduce, and hate. Shame. I hope you do well in all you do.

One thing you folks aren't getting, is that this documentary was based on real events, namely, the expulsion of the Acadians (french), both in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, who had lived peacfully for a couple hundred years. If you didn't bow to the British flag, you're out. They burned their houses, killed their livestock, raped their women, and sent them all packing to Louisianna. (Hence the term "Cajun", a slang for "Acadian".

Well we know this didn't happen or else it would be in the history books..lol a few people died in the Boston riots and it was called a massacre but they don't tell you that Boston has had over 200 riots to this day and a few years after america had won its "freedom" 3 times as many people were killed by the local militia in a similar riot.. Also only 15% of the Anglo-american people supported the traitors at the time of the revolution,and by the way it was the French that funded it all.

@timothydavey1 *Quartering Act of 1765* Now what do you think happened if the owners of the house refused... you honestly think the Redcoats would say "Ok, No Problem, we'll keep looking for adequate housing" or do you think they would forcibly take the propert? Brits aren't bad, just King George III pushed it too far... Taxing the Colonies and lowering the taxes in England as a result to pay off the debt of the French & Indian War...
