THis should have been an original series season 4 episode in the 1960's.

Sulu has a lot of Nerve to always be talking about William Shatner when he's the one who keeps running his big Mouth .

After seeing this....we need to see William Shatner as Kirk one last time. Forget that he died in the movie..have a alternate Universe!

It always baffled me how Sulu was not given a tv series! Even the cameo on Voyager was enough to launch it!

Great look, action, actors and accuracy to the original. I just can't get past Scotty's mustache. It takes me out of the moment.

That was so well done! Nice to watch a Star Trek episode with solid writing and a great story that actually respects the history and doesn't treat the viewer like a child. I know that it was filmed years ago, but it's new to me today and brought tears to my eyes at the end. Both appropriately emotional and thought provoking. I miss this!!

sulu as captain... nah, i would totally skip the series...

I'm 40 years old and I admit the ending had me wiping tears away. I also admit that at first I couldn't really take to phase 2, the choices of actors threw me a little. But, upon retrying several times, it finally clicked for me and I REALLY appreciate everything these actors brought to their roles. This is what classic Star Trek was truly in spirit.

Despite the technical issues, that was pretty awesome.

This was fun! The acting is a little choppy, but I love a good story and those things work themselves out over time. The first TNG's were a little shaky too, but those were incredible!

Better than Strange New Worlds

I cry every time I have seen this episode, but I think the Excelsior part is new? Was this the episode that was the basis for a Night in 1968 (or whatever the title was)? This is the BEST episode of State Trek New Voyages or ST Continues. This cast and production value had really jelled very well by this point. Only if a certain other "fan film producer" would not have ruined for the others. - sad-

I saw this episode years ago, and forgot how fantastic this is! With Rand abord, a Captain Sulu series would have set ST on a clear path. This proves just how great of an Actor George Takei is!

Had the same writing style as the original series

First, I wanted to thank everyone involved in working on this "pilot" episode. I sincerely appreciate every bit of effort, blood, sweat and tears that went into making this. Unfortunately, it's not working for me. The SFX and all that were great quality even. On the other hand, the acting left a lot to be desired and felt more like an SNL parody. Every time the actor playing "Kirk" spoke his lines, it looked like he was constantly smelling something bad. Other than George Takei, the actors were so far off from what we see on ST:SNW and even in Abrams "Kelvin Universe" with Chris Pine.

"ST: Continues" was a much better fan made show than what "ST: New Voyages" was. Actor, "Vic Mignogna" was a better Captain Kirk. Plus "Chris Doohan" (Who is the real life son of "James Doohan") played (and was a much better) Scotty than the other two actors who portrayed him in "ST: New Voyages. "

George is a Trump hater...but at least he acted normally in the series and movies.

The Voyager episode was better. Acting was up there and everything was less forced.

This episode is so good. I rather watch this one hundred times than any episode of discovery

George Takei and Grace Lee Whitney played these characters to perfection on this. Despite the rank differences, Sulu and Rand had served together so many years they were almost family themselves.
