Just purchased same ones at HD for $80 for both going to try out this fix and let you know thank you. Tried it out and it works great except the middle holes didn’t line up so I just secured them by using the bracket bolt and pinching the middle part of the bracket

We're being ripped off to do things ourselves because we can no longer afford to be ripped off when we don't. They figure, nobody flinched when we started stealing the money being passed out by the dim-witted president, so why not keep jacking up prices until they can't afford their own homes, then buy their homes w/all the money we stole and make them pay monthly for everything they no longer own, for the rest of their lives! 😃🤑💰💵💸

Those bolts that you had to remove and install the new parts with.... does your bolts tighten all the way down and stop turning or do they continually turn? I thought my problem was that the bolts did not tighten down to a stopping point, but all my bolts are like that, even where the door dot NOT buckle.
@simplyausome4 ай бұрын
Some of mine tightened all the way and some did not. For the ones that did not, I bought a bigger bolt.

You sir are very lucky. Mine is absolutely ripped to pieces. I have spent two years trying to fix mine. I use the same message that you used with the slotted angle iron but at my local Home Depot $59 a piece for an 8 foot section and I have a 16 foot wide door just like you, mine is buckled and ripped to pieces all the way down the center. If you open the garage door all the way it will buckled till it’s a foot from the garage floor itself and would easily cave-in and fall. It has cost me almost $1200 to buy every piece of angle iron that I need, I have two 8 foot sections of angle iron on the top and bottom side of each panel in the center then I have two 4 foot panels, top and bottom on both the left and the right side of each and every garage door panel. That’s what it took me to fix mine. In total, I had to buy eight 8’ angle iron sections and 15 4 foot sections then I had to reinforce the backside of everything. Still cheaper than paying an overhead door to come out and re-install a new one for $6000.

Thanks for a great idea. I bought 8 ft (11/2' x 96 in) at menards (SKU: 2289232) for 25$ and tried on my 2 car garage door. I am trying to keep the angle in the center of the door. Only 2 of the holes align with the hinge of the door unfortunately. I don't know if HD's would be any different. Any ideas ?

$60 in NJ Home Depot, 5/25/24. It's just not China Joe's & Co.'s insane Bidenomics. OPPORTUNISTS Homie Depot and Low Louie Lowe's saw a run on these 8' ft. angle irons by DIY'ers for garage door repairs, and jacked up the price to whatever the market will bear. HD's slogan of "Driving down costs everyday".....BS!

Great work Tim How are they holding up? Next time, buy a steel Brace/Aluminum fitting that goes across the entirety of the garage. I can tell when you opened it, it was putting a lot of max load on that area you braced. Eventually it will put some pressure on your springs and it may cause you to prematurely buy new springs earlier than you have too. Great explanation and detailed information. So many people on here don't give enough information on where to buy the supplies ect. Did you brace these steel angles over the hinges with the same screw? What type of tool did you use to screw these screws in?
@winmanvball1 Жыл бұрын
Hi there, yes I braced the steel angles over the hinges with the same screw. Just used my rachet wrench to install.

thank you for this video. my garage door is 16 feet wide (2 car garage) and the torsion spring broke and the top panel bent and buckled. I replace the torsion spring with 26 quarter turns and the top panel bent more because the 16 foot cross thin support also bent. I went to Home Depot to look for this angle bracket in 16 feet long but could not find one. BTW, the 8 feet zinc plated angle bracket by Everbilt cost $60 in Washington, DC - October 31, 2022. Since I see this video I am going to buy the $60 8 ft angle bracket. I will place this at the very top of the top panel where the crack is. I called some garage door sellers in the area and recommend to replace the entire garage for thousands of $$$$.

It does not mean that the recommended torque specs is 65 lb, but you going what the previous owner torque them too. You could have found 20 lb... You should use Dexter's Product Bulletin #409 to get the correct torque specifications for all kinds of trailer wheels. hltlimitedtrailers.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Dexter-Wheel-Torque-Requirements.pdf
