Thank you! From start to finish this took eons… but that’s beacuse this was one of the first orchestral pieces i did when i was learning to work in logic. I’m still in a learning process, but i’d say that a composition like this would take me about 40 hours from first note to final result now. All the best

Too many plugins? Sounds excellent to me, so you can't question the final results! I'm not sure how you arrived at that chain, but, again, you've gotten excellent results for that sweeping melodic sound, with wonderful character and definition in the WW.

@@kennethjackson4858 thanks for the comment! I worked with classical music all my life. Classical guitar as my main instrument. Im also a assistent professor at the RCM in Stockholm and teach music theory, so I’ve learned a thing or two about orchestration in my work. But mainly I’ve learned it by my self, using my ears and trying different things, understanding how the orchestra and the different instruments work. Cheers!

i like the question and answer between the instrument....very good and original 💛.....how do you use pacific ensemble to layering CSS strings ? do you use the 2 mics ? and did you Eq pacific strings ensemble patch ?. thanks in advance for your answers 👍
@viktorritchey
@viktorritchey 4 ай бұрын
Thanks for your feedback! I'll try to answer your questions: - I start by programming the Pacific strings, violin 1, violin 2, viola, cello and bass, because they are a bit faster to program (since they have only one legato speed i can use -127 track delay an put everything on the grid, and it is exactly in time to the metronome, super easy!). I muse both mics and very little EQ processing, maybe a tine bit reduction 1 or 2 db around 3000 and around 300-500. I then copy everything over to CSS and do some more programming there, fine tune the legatotransitions etc. I go about 60-40 in volume. 60% CSS and 40 Pacific. I also use more reverb on pacific than on CSS. Sometimes I aso use an Pacific ensemble patch on top of everything, dont think I did that here though.

The CSS i use quite a lot more eq. I'm using some parts of a template that is called "Colossal" that is specificly made to the cinematic studio series, just google it. But i'm not actually using it as intended. Basicly i'm taking away lots of mid range. Like 3-6 db:s from 200-5000, a little more in some places and a little less. Basicly CSS are to dark when played together with the other instruments in the orchestra.

@@viktorritchey I know the collossal project template but I didn't buy it, I like the sound of it. The eq of cinesaga template seems better to me ( do you know cinesaga ? ) and less CPU overall.....I check new master score from collossal and they layering more and more libraries now. They re still using ccs series as a prime library but more others libraries like cinesamples are used to create more real orchestral result.

More eq, more layering and more plugins to change the original sound of the sampke is not always the best to do...that s way I m very interesting to see step by step you mixing procedure and effects you are using in a video 👍
@viktorritchey
@viktorritchey 4 ай бұрын
@@stevefida3858 I believe that you can use a lot of plugins to tweek the sound, for example i use 3-4 kind of different compressors. But a very small amount on everything, nothing over the top, but together they add up and really shapes the sound in a positive way.

Beautiful !... overall sound and the ambience of the sound seems very real regarding the recording area and reverb because i m sure you are using 90 pourcent of CSS series samples....You should make a video on how you use reverb, Equing instrument, layering pacific strings and what plugin you are using on the mastering bus ( tape, compression...ETC). Finally i m very suprise of the overall result. Congratulation for your job !!!👍

Masterful use of the wind instruments and that nice Celtic signature, got a feeling of fable the music game, great productions all the bells and whistles thrown at it and I like the key/chord change 1:40 very classical. Not sure I would consider it Scandinavian , which are generally more Atonal and rhythmically loose with instruments like the Tagelharpa. But a very beautiful fantasy music.

Sounds nice! I would have EQd the brass differently, since it tends to have a more muddy sound. But you are right, the CS Series is one of the most versatile single branded libraries! I dont know what it is, but CSB is my least favorite CS library, the "resolution" of the samples is just too low, compared to spitfire audio, orchestral tools and many more. But i think thats due to the room its recorded in, it was not a good choice for the brass :& You did a good job!
@viktorritchey
@viktorritchey 5 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. I'm not very familiar with other libraries except BBC and MUSIO brass, and i think that CSB is a class above them imho, espessially when thinking about the versitility. But it'd be exciting to try another real good brass library..!
@talnomix3164
@talnomix3164 5 ай бұрын
@@viktorritchey Yes you are right with that, but Cinebrass imo is a class about CSB in terms of the soundquality. CSB is better overall and you can do more with it, has more dynamic layers. I can recommend Infinite brass, the sound is superb and you get all instruments with unmatched consistency across all instruments. The library has only 4 dynamic layers but these layers are capable of creating seamless transitions between dynamic levels through Continuous Dynamic Transition (CDT), making the playing experience very expressive and flexible, even with a limited number of layers. It also layers very well with other libraries!
