Fearing the worst as my 98 Seville STS left a "snail trail" between my driveway and the local market, I broke down and took it in to be checked. 95k on the Northstar V8 and I feared a main crankshaft seal leak for major expense, but it was the oil filter housing gasket leaking and dripping the trail. This engine had overheated once about 30k ago due to design defect that Cadillac had never acknowledge wherein the head studs pulled loose at under 65k miles as they don't extend suffifciently deep into the alloy block. Cadillac fixed this issue around 2004 with longer studs. Don't know if this issue exacerbated the subsequent oil leak later but DO CHECK FOR LEAKAGE SUGGESTED IN THIS VIDEO. It is difficult to see with all the undercarriage cowlings.

Next time hold the rear brake down instead of using your screwdriver to hold the clutch while using your impact wrench and you will do it in one second bro one second lol
