Yes, track mode reduces throttle input and/or applies rear brakes to help straighten the car when slip angle / yaw rate is too high, and you can even sometimes hear it with a sounds like "trrrrr" from the rear of the car. You still need to counter-steer most of the time to prevent the spin but you'll also feel the car slowing down and RPM dropping even if you try to keep powering through the slide. In VSC Off mode none of this happens, you're completely on your own and have to do both counter-steering and throttle modulation to catch/abort the slide.

Thanks! SX2 is very loud tire haha. They start screaming before they lose grip, so if they're not making noises then it means car is going too slow lol.

The current car setup is actually understeery in general. The spin happened due to lifting after T6 and most of the slides happen under trail braking. I also compete in 86DRIVE Challenge stock class so I don't have much root for adjustments besides using different OEM 86/BRZ springs and/or roll bars.

Totally code brown. I think I pressed both pedals in just in time and got lucky to stop before the wall.

Nope didn't get any black flags that day. This all happened across 7 20 min sessions so it's not like I was drifting all the time :) Although I kinda expected black flag when I dropped 2 wheels in T10.

Thanks! I usually stay in 4th when it's completely dry but was going slightly slower due to wet patches so decided to use 3rd. If you can stay over 5k RPM through the whole turn then 4th is probably as fast as 3rd. You can lose some speed on uphill but you also don't need to shift downhill.

@@IvanLarionov ok that makes sense. I was there that day. Definitely bogged a bit on the uphill but figured my shifting is so bad I'd just unsettle the car and lose any time gained.

That's not a w2w race but HPDE event. That overtake was not made in time before T10 braking zone, which not only forced me to stay on the inside lane but also hard brake to avoid going into T10 together which would be dangerous. If this Radical driver had a bit of patience driving together with GOLD group / slower vehicles and delayed his overtake until start-finish straight I could've had a lap record in 86DC stock class and he could've had a safe overtake.

@@IvanLarionov I'm not saying what he did was the right/valid. But this happens all the time... FWIW I've been apex dived a handful of times driving in open group during track days (even once in t9). But here is the silver lining - you stayed on track, and no damage to either vehicles, right? ;)
