Wow, everything was "extra" to make it a workable/usable camper. Not good. Kind of sounds like Jeeps: You get a body, engine and wheels...everything else is $$$ "optional." ;-) I'm looking into getting a small camper/TT myself, but am looking at two other brands. And they're garage-able -- they'll fit in a standard garage 7' height-wise, which is a must-have for me. My tow-vehicle (also my Daily Driver) will handle them easily. -- BR

I used a friend's for few days. Only 2 things I wished was improved on is rounded nose for better fuel economy and the 3 door should NOT have 3 separate keys.

An upgrade I regret is getting the tongue basket. When I bought an aftermarket tongue box I realized that i didn't need the tongue basket and ended up selling it for cheap. Apparently i could just mount the tongue box right onto the hitch frame with U-bolts without the basket rack... bummer.

You might get away with that on the smallest lightweight runaway version like this one but I doubt this could work well on the rouser model. Also in regards to automobiles changing the suspension with spacers and various other mods can sometimes affect the vehicles performance and balance. It might even become dangerous on the road??? I've heard of some cars being too lightweight to the point where a strong wind while commuting over a bridge was able to knock it off into the sea!!!

What kind and size of mattress did you use. Sometimes the interior sizes are odd on these campers. Thanks

There is a easy way to fix the door and it will take you 10 minutes and your axle the way you have it you will be buying spring's like crazy we build ours way different. We only use 14" tires and 3500lb axles its more heavy duty get you a 4 leaf spring and that'll take care of your spring issue

I am beyond anal about my truck doors being left open, I tell my wife every so often or anyone that is with me/us, if you get out for any reason, shut the door, especially when I'm loading our atv, the truck and trailer rock a bit while driving our atv onto our trailer and if her door is open, it swings towards the front, possibly could damage something if it keeps happening, the good old days a person could shim hinges and tweak any over flexing of a door, not with today's vehicles, nice truck by the way, I have a 2022 colorado,

@@FLAARONG I don't know about sagging, but it's never closed right. Always had a huge gap. And I learned that even if it's closed, it's not really latched. You can give it a little tug from the door frame and it opens up.

Nice video. You probably already checked on this, not all but most trailer axles have a camber (arched tube) so flipping it over it would have the wrong camber. If you never load it up to the max rating then changing the leaf springs (cheap mod) to a rating closer to the actual trailer weight it will allow more suspension travel and a softer ride.
@FLAARONG
@FLAARONG 9 ай бұрын
Yes! That’s a great point. The axles that come with these campers are straight and true, but you’re right some of them are slightly cambered and flipping it would mess everything up. Good thing to keep in mind and check for.

I can’t remember. I’ll look when I get home today. It was trash though. It was super cheap on Amazon. All the aluminum in the whole framing was made very cheaply. It broke within a month or two having it. Lol

Aha! I THOUGHT you flipped the axle on it. Very practical. I got the Venturist. I'll check out your friend's channel. I'm not sure you couldn't accomplish much the same thing as I did, way cheaper, by just getting the Cool Camp and flipping the axles. Yeah, the axle-less suspension is nice, but when is it going to make a huge difference? For the price, you could beat the heck out of your Cool Camp, and even replace the axle if you had to. I do plan to add some things underneath, to make use of the ridiculous amount of clearance the Venturist has. I can put some drawers or water tanks under there and it'd still clear anything my Tacoma can, or rather, anything I'd put my Tacoma through.

I, too, have a Runaway CoolCamp composite body and pull it with a 23 Frontier Pro 4x. I hardly now it's back there on the roads. They are not insulated for cold weather. I had mine in the ice and snow of a Yellowstone October with temps down to 15. Yes, there was ice on the inside walls but no worries. I was prepared with several blankets, so I was toasty warm in the sleeping bag. I'm glad you like yours. I travel solo so this is all I need. The right size for sleeping and getting out of the bad weather. It forces me to be outside and that's the point of camping. I like that trail. Safe travels.

We have the Venturist in the same size, so yes a bit tight but no issues what so ever. Runaway did change out the windows because they were seeing water leaking in. That fixed the problem. The other big difference between the cool camper and the off road version is the hitch system. Huge upgrade with an articulating hitch. So like you we love camping and take it everywhere.
