A beautiful respite from the delightful psychosis of everything else on the album.

So glad they’re back in the studio for the first time in nearly a decade. Rickard has been a great addition to Big Big Train, and I’ve enjoyed the stuff he’s put out under the “Gungfly” moniker. But nothing that’s quite scratched the same itch as Beardfish did

I heard this as a teen through learning about Mike Patton and fell in love with John Zorns work through him. I had assumed this was an original until recently when I got into vinyl and came across the film soundtrack. Still learning lol. Amazing tune and from such an amazing composer.

Dude.. I first heard of Zorn when I was a budding 14 year old film lover who explored film scores early and somehow found him in the midst of the immense pool of almost supernatural talent. Needless to say, upon hearing his Masada work, I'm officially sold as a 30 year old.

Same here! I heard this masterpiece on a stereo cassette in the early nineties in my early twenties... It was about Naked City I believe. Unforgettable since then...

Yeah, I feel like this right here is like something every musician can first listen to the genius original theme from the great genius composer and then when he listens to this right here - they will all realise just how great Genius John Zorn actually is 😲🤯🤐 ( And all these alien dudes around him - so fine it's fukin awesome, where does he find them ? He is like Sun Ra😄)

Your satin skin has been rubbed in fame But what is your name? What is your name? You’re more than fine, oh you’re bigger than life But what is your name? Your real name? Oh please, tell me Harmony, just between you and me I took a hard hit today Oh, but the loss makes my noise, it makes my noise And I shiver in this cold, cold heart You smile like someone I once knew It’s that look in your eyes, in your eyes Oh Harmony, it’s like a door to a vast unknown That no one can ever realize Oh, won’t you tell me? Harmony, just between you and me I took a real hard hit today But the loss makes my noise And I shiver in this cold, cold heart

I just ran across Chris Connor's version of Lonely Woman from 1961, and while listening to it, I was struck by how much the feel of the song resembles soundtracks of that era: the James Bond theme, Anatomy of a Murder soundtrack, etc. So it is interesting to see that this was the only cover song on the Naked City album that was not composed for a movie soundtrack. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rXnFpaeNpN-Cibs
