Hi 👋 Got a question I'm new to the club What is your oponion if have the choice to pick one up Yashica mat vs rolleiflex vs weltaflex
@odinntheviking3 жыл бұрын
Hi hi Ardalan. Out of these three then probably the Rolleiflex, simply cause it has the best build quality. I would also recommend looking at the Yashica D and the Minolta Autocord (the Rolleiflex killer) ;)
@ardalansh93923 жыл бұрын
@@odinntheviking thank you sir Never heard of minolta But honestly these cameras are extremely rare in my country so had only those choices if I can, I would probably go for the rolleiflex and yashica mat both

Not going to get disappointed with those for sure :D

I have the F3.5 version of your camera. Brilliant little cameras. Their prices have gone through the roof, in the last couple of years due to the reputed resurgence of film. I like your style of photography. Vry nice. Thanks.

Hi hi, mine is a f/3.5 also, and totally agree, these are some very capable and great little cameras. So much fun to use. When I bought it, I got it with all the filters also which is super nice, can use those also with the Minolta Autocord and the Yashica´s I have, got the same filter mount as the Rollei :)

Excellent contrast from what I presume is an uncoated lens! You might be surprised at how good you could get at estimating distance to the subject, with practice.

Hey, welcome to the club. Got my Weltaflex not long ago too. Mine's with a 1/250 Vebur shutter and ROW Rathenow lenses. My mirror was exchanged by one of the previous owners with normal mirrored glass, which caused the focus to go wrong. There's a guy on ebay called marty1107 who sells proper metal mirrors in the right size for under 10$ if you haven't found a replacement yet. The guys from VEB Welta knew about their crappy viewfinder matte right form the beginning, so as compensation they implemented a "sports finder" ;-) Have you tried it out yet? If not: open the finder lid, press the middle element of the lid down again until it "clicks" tight, and look through the remaining frame through the little square opening on the back of the finder case. With the matte I only set the focus in the middle where it is bright and then I use the "sports finder" for setting the frame of the picture. Works much better for me. Keep up the good work !
@odinntheviking4 жыл бұрын
Haha thank you :D Yeah I actually bought a new mirror from him and got it 4-5 days ago and changed the mirror right away, big difference for sure. Do want to try a different ground glass also, see if can brighten this thing up even more. For me this is really the only downside I can mention about this camera. I´ve tried using these sports finders on various TLR´s, including this one but they are just not my thing to use :D Have you shared anywhere any pictures from using your Weltaflex, would love to see :)
@jiajiajiaism4 жыл бұрын
@@odinntheviking Hey cool, if you find a source for a new ground glass/matte screen let me know. Haven't been able to find one without having to cut glass to have it fit. Here's an imgur link for a sample of my Weltaflex pics: imgur.com/a/oCFHWMl hope YT doesn't delete it. Only had time to shoot two test rolls, one Delta 3200 I developed in DD-X and one Lomo CN 400 I just picked up from the lab a few hours ago. So nothing special, but for the 60€ I paid for the camera the results of the tests are quite satisfying. At least to me 😅 I'll follow up on your insta acc, I'll be posting more Welta shots on my account soon, so if you like you can take a look there.
@odinntheviking4 жыл бұрын
@@jiajiajiaism these shots looks great, well done :D I will most likely reach out to Rick Oleson but he makes custom fitted focusing screens for various TLR´s and medium format cameras :D Look him up.
@jiajiajiaism4 жыл бұрын
@@odinntheviking Thanks for your compliment, and for the recommendation as well. He doesn't seem to have Weltaflex screens in his standard repertoire, but it can't hurt to ask. Have you been in contact with him already? Still, I don't know yet if it is sensible to pay 150% of what my camera was bought for just for the screen. I'll have to think about it ;-)
@odinntheviking4 жыл бұрын
@@jiajiajiaism Most welcome :D But no I haven´t talked to him yet. But I will go most likely go for new screens for the Weltaflex, and my two Mamiya´s, the 124G and D. I think for the Weltaflex, this would be a great upgrade and a great help using it, but I do get the point on how it costs compared to the camera itself.

I've owned various Rolleiflex cameras over a 70-year period, so this is an amusing and nostalgic trip for me. Rollei TLRs are one of the all-time most brilliant industrial designs and have been copied by dozens of manufacturers. Sad to say, I don't get out much anymore. Shame on me! Rolleis are meant to be worked and will take quite a bit of abuse, but my 3.5F and Rolleicord VB are so pretty it deters me from using them...that and the arthritis. Now if I just had a model who was strong enough to carry my gear AND pose, that would be fine. My doctor said I must think of my heart in pursuing my hobby. Rolleis say, "Let's go. Make it snappy!" and my ticker says, "Whoa!" Thanks for sharing, Odin. Is it true Icelandic models are one reason polar ice caps are melting?
@odinntheviking4 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert. Sorry to hear that you can´t go out as much as you would like. These Rollei´s sure are great TLR's, I was lucky enough to get mine from a guy who was gifted this camera along with a Zeiss Ikon camera and Kodak Retina IIC from an old lady years ago and he never used them. I got them for a really cheap because he liked the idea of someone actually going to use them :) There are loads of adventurous models out there which I´m sure are willing to assist and being hired if they just know what they are getting into. I say go for it! I would say that the Icelandic models, specially two of them have their share of melting the ice haha That would be Icelandicselkie and Valyrkjan on Instagram, these two ladies are just on another level when it comes to posing on Ice, snow and colder climates :D

How far of a distance could you fly it in Iceland before you lost connection with the controller? I know most of Europe doesn't allow FCC flight mode which limits your signal strength as compared to the United States. I was wondering if Iceland followed Europe on that or could you fly upwards of 5000 ft away without losing connection between controller and Mavic Air.

How did it do with the wind from iceland?
@odinntheviking7 жыл бұрын
steeve thl it handles wind very well as long as it has all the gps signals up n running. Been using the Air a bit along the coastline in N-Ireland and its just great. Also home in Iceland I took it out in some stronger winds and heavy snowfall and it was just rock steady :)
