The sale of Kiwibank should be decided by all over New Zealanders. We buy into these lies. Owned by Kiwis for Kiwis, and then you sell of OUR assets without our consideration Stealing our Bank and profiting from our support should mean we either get a say and if we agree to sell then each customer should receive a portion of the sale Don’t steal another asset to sell to overseas buyers. It’s wrong . It’s theft, in my opinion

At school I recall we had a lecture on the role of Reserve Banks. To summarise what we where told was that Reserve Banks existed to protect depositors and savers in case there was a run on a commercial bank, or one collapsed and prevent excessive risk taking with depositors money. It sounds very much like the gamekeepers are now moonlighting as poachers. 🤔

The Oxford University/AstraZeneca effort is important because it's the leading conventional heat-stable one-shot effort. It'll probably be the vaccine that most of the world gets because it's easy to transport and cheap to buy even if it will take a few additional months to develop. Even with the vaccine that BioNTech/Pfizer are rolling out remember that they only have to inoculation a small part of the population (i.e. those over 60, immunologically compromised) to stem most deaths. Advanced EU countries like Germany are setting up to get a substantial number of vaccinations administered in December (I believe the German health minister indicated 30m vaccinations within a population if 80m people.) As a near permanent pessimist I am forced to conclude there is great reason to hope developed economies will have broken the back of this early next year because those hospitalisation rates will plunge which is what is constraining business as usual. The European scientists have saved the day here, vaccines with 90%+ effectiveness developed and submitted for approval in less than a year. Might as well start engraving Nobel prizes. In Science We Trust. 🙂

Looking back at the way we have seen the EU negotiated in the past I expect they will wait until the thirteenth hour to reach a deal to maximise pressure on the UK and will only offer an interim agreement that ostensibly allow government in the UK to save face but only offering temporary reprieve. They love the long game.

If there is one thing I've learned about Auckland it's that one careless truck driver or stiff breeze can shut the roads, one over eager digger driver can turn off the gas, a dry spell can turn off the water and a faulty switching station can shut down the power grid. The infrastructure resilience model of the city is based on Jenga! 🤔

If there is one thing we've learned from 'The Project' it's that people will watch anything if there is a video of a child stuck in a washing machine or cat picture. Even if that thing adds no demonstrable value to their life and leaves them no better informed.
