@TTplayar , first I check the download and make sure everything is downloaded and reopen the doc/file. Second, updated os and restart from complete shutdown; push volume up and down button and hold lock button until Apple icon is displayed and release button. iPhone will shut down and restart all operations. Open PDF and select all text and give VO command to read doc. This steps works for me most of the time :)

can't the iphone be set up in accessibility to utilize TEXT with voice over and read out loud..? IE: "Siri, Text Sandee.. (wait for prompt) then speak the text into the iphone followed by command "SEND TEXT" then when a text come in, it announces, "you have new text". Then voice command, "read text"
@LegallyBlindGeekАй бұрын
@rdkuless, Yes, do you have Hey Siri turned on? Under Siri settings I have this set as; Siri. With the spoken command Siri text Sandee, are we still on for lunch? After a pause, Siri reads the dictated text aloud and asks to send it? To which I reply send. I hear the sound I have set. up telling me a text has been sent. After a bit when Sandee replies I get a notification letting me know Sandee has replied. I one finger at the notification banner and the voiceover reads the response. Is this what you are asking? Thanks for your comment; make it a great day. This operation involves several app settings.

Thanks for asking,; I just downloaded the iOS and watch os updates for iOS 18, and checked for AirPod firmware updates. On my first generation Apple Watch Ultra. Going into settings by pushing once the digital crown. Go into settings, scroll down to Bluetooth and open that folder. Hear I find all my AirPods: pro 2, Max and others. With VO turned on I one finger tap to select the AirPods Pro 2 to select. Then Vo will tell me Mike's AirPods pro not connected; sound familiar? Ok, to connect my AirPods Pro 2 I followed the pairing steps: open AirPod case and hold pairing button on the back side of the case. This took me 2 times of going through the pairing process before connecting and staying connected. Hope this helps :) Make it a great day and again thanks for asking.

Thanks Mike for everything. I have a friend who is blind, and I would like to help him listen to free audiobooks from KZbin. My progress so far-I can find a book, hit Share, and send it to him via text. He can select the image attached to the text message and play the Audiobook,I think. We get together every couple of weeks to check progress. However, what I would LIKE to do is send him a playlist of KZbin videos, of books I think he would like, and he needs to be able to say, I guess, to SIRI, "next video." But I don't believe she can recognize that command. Any tips? It is a tremendous resource and cost saver and great delight to him but we're stuck on this next advance in the routine. Any suggestions?

yes, I know what a party line is, I am 70 years old. I have been blind since age 39. What are the things I would like to see is improvements. I have an iPhone 15 Pro and a two pro tablet one things that I see is a lot of conflict with VoiceOver and other systems which I called the normal systems sometimes the force over command kind of works counterintuitive and it confuses the system. I have a lot of commands that I have adjusted and commands that I have created other than default ones to help me navigate since I am 100% blind. One thing that would improve the system as well as videos I would like to see a grid, or have a grid such as having the screen divided up into nine segments because sometimes the voiceover will tell me that there’s a something there that I need to hold and press and I don’t know where it is. I use flat and sometimes just trying to figure out where it is I activate other things and sometimes when I double tap on something it doesn’t launch it just says selected that you want you to print and hold on it and you can’t do that when you don’t know exactly where it is, a grid system with a voice recognition to let you know where that item is would help also you being partially blind sometimes the natural language you will say as many others do go down here and do this and for those of us that are listening we don’t know we’re down. There is and we don’t know what this is. Just a suggestion some people’s natural language. They don’t use that whole lot and then I listen to their videos as well sided people because they’re very specific to what they’re doing, even though they’re showing on the screen, thanks a lot. I’ve enjoyed your videos and will continue to. 11:00

Thank you so much for helping that senior gentleman. So many seniors who are legally/visually impaired just don't realize they are blind, and possibly don't want to admit it as it's thought of as weakness, esp. people who lived the past where it was thought to be. That they can qualify for blind assistance. They struggle through life with the unfortunate myth that blindness means total blindness and thus don't seek help. And a lot don't realize what tech can do for them. I myself (a senior) am visually impaired (slow progression) as well as totally deaf (wear CI). It took me years to seek help. I was living my life as a Deaf person for 40+ years and then my sight started to slowly go and I just didn't want to seek help. Denial. I slowly like the gentleman you helped finally just asked someone in front of me (7 years ago) in store who was wearing a CI what it was. From that simple question and the kind person (like you) led me into finally seeking help with my eyesight and tech. Thank you so much for your videos.

Great information in this video. I'm glad I was able to find your video. I'm looking for a cell phone or iPad for my mother, who has low vision and is considered legally blind. She's currently using a Samsung A14 phone and having a difficult time. They recently did an update, and she's unable to see where the microphone is located. Among other issues she's having with the phone, I think an iPad would be better. I also read the Pixel is great for people with visual impairments. Do you happen to be familiar with that, or do you have any recent recommendations for something more significant than what she currently has? Thanks for your help!
@LegallyBlindGeek3 ай бұрын
@lc3940 thank you for your question. The first thing that I always ask is what platform does my friends and family use that I'm going to try to communicate with them most of the time. Apps designed for iOS tend to work really well across different iOS devices. Unfortunately, a lot of Android apps and iOS apps do not play well together. The Google Pixel phone is really good and highly recommended for creators primarily because of the cameras and people familiar with the Android platform. So first determine which platform android or Apple most of your mother's friends and family will be communicating. Second, the iPhone voice assistant a.k.a Siri Is getting better at doing things for the visually impaired person all the time. Set up properly Siri works surprisingly well. Your mother wouldn't necessarily need to find the proper button on her iPhone or iPad. Mom could easily ask Siri to do whatever she needs her devices to perform. Then there are accessibility vision settings you and your mom can easily customize that make it easy for your mother to use her preferred device such as the iPhone Pro Max size, or 13-inch iPad Pro. For instance, you could set up larger text bold text, and the iOS voice assistant a.k.a Siri voiceover for starters. Hope this helps, make it a great day, and remember overcoming low vision challenges is worth all the effort. By the way, my wife loves her iPad. She uses it for everything: digital book reader, social media, emails, and texts all are easy on the larger screen.

So I am blind in when I am going blind in the other eye. I have a Samsung phone and that's an older phone and the accessibility on it is not that great. My kids have iphones and they love them and said that they accessibility on it is a lot better. What is your opinion or advice on that?
@LegallyBlindGeek3 ай бұрын
@brandie961 Hi, thanks for your question, I am sorry for taking so long to respond. I like the Apple ecosystem. The iPhone accessibility features are easy to practice and customize. On the other hand, many of my younger friends like Android phones better, including Samsung among the other major brands, such as the Pixel. The first question we need to ask ourselves before deciding, which is the better smartphone for individual needs is: how will we use the phone? For instance, purely as a communication device: make and receive phone calls, send and receive texts, emails, or search and shop for things online. It's important to understand how we plan on using the device before deciding on which would be the best. Furthermore, as individuals, we can select the phone and the operating system that Best fills our needs, easiest for us to use. Let us not forget about our friend's and families preferred devices and operating systems (OS). Generally speaking, Apple accessibility settings work great with all other Apple devices: watches, iPads, Mac computers, Apple TV, etc,. Android devices work best with other Android devices. Apple and Android devices a.k.a. Samsung Galaxy and similar Android smart devices do not play nice across platforms. Which means Android apps that work well on the latest Samsung Galaxy devices. Do not run right on older devices or iPhones for that matter. and vice versa. Selecting the iPhone you can afford is the best option. Keeping in mind your friends and family prefer the Apple ecosystem, and with the latest and greatest flagship iPhone running the latest version of iOS. Provide the most flexibility and usability available on smartphones and similar devices today. As an added bonus, Apple devices last a long time providing reasonable care taken with the device. I do hope this helps answer your questions on iPhone accessibility versus Android. Thank you, make it a great day.
