I really hate to say this but I really do not find this as a very good representation of Canada 🇨🇦I did watch it though to the end and most of the time I wanted to turn it off but I didn’t giving it the benefit of doubt , with that being said I wish I had never turned it on . My apologies for my comment but it is the way feel of this film , I just hope that it was not pad for by the government ( in other words us being tax payers)
@andreastewart29957 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that you feel that way Bruce. Of course there is no one definitive way to represent a country as diverse as Canada and this film is best viewed in a large 360 dome environment or virtual reality. This project was funded in part by Canada 150 and Ontario 150, but this film is only part of the entire project, which included events in over 50 communities in every province and territory. Also, the government funds to this project was expended almost entirely in communities across Canada, and multiplied several times more to local economies (and therefore back to the taxpayer) than what what was expended, so it has performed well as investment by the government. In fact, most cultural investments in this country do, although it is an extremely small part of the federal budget (but often the most criticized).

We appreciate all points of view Bruce - that in itself is a wonderful thing about Canada. Having said that, in surveying close to 20,000 people who screened our film HORIZON over the summer and provided us feedback, an overwhelming 98% of people were favourable of our film and many emotionally so. Their comments are pulled together on some of our summary videos on our KZbin channel entitled "SESQUI Audience Reactions".

SESQUI2017 well all I can say is that I’m a part of the 2 % that did not approve of this film , and again I apologize but this is my opinion and I must stand by what I say. To each their own I guess thanks for accepting my comment as it is my choice to be for or against and I am against..

The one thing I will agree with Bruce is that 2% that you mentioned. I am in the arts business myself, an art gallery actually, and yes, there is always that 2% of visitors who don't "get it." By the way, I had a booth at the event in Kingston and I was situated across from the exit of the dome. The feedback and general impression from the visitors as they left the dome was very positive. I would say that over 95% of people loved it. As many hung around for the photo ops it was very obvious to me that they were glad that they came, and waited in the lines to see the show. Congratulations to SESQUI2017 on a very innovative way to present Canada to Canadians and the world. I will share this on my business page.

Did you watch it only online here? Or did you see it in the 360 mode? Because it is most definitely lost in translation so to speak watching it on the small screen.

There is something wrong with the skies. These are not the skies I looked at as a kids. These are all white and misty and covered in long white trails that spread out like a powder turning blue to white.

I would be interested in seeing a list of all the locations where this video was filmed with footage references. There are many that I cannot place and would love to know where they all are. As it is an Ontario 150 sponsored project is most of the content recorded there?
@andreastewart29957 жыл бұрын
Hi there - the filming took place in all 10 provinces, an 3 territories. Here is a list of the locations and there's lots of behind-the-scenes information on our website! sesqui.ca/en/guide/

Oh, it's sooooo Canadian. MacDonald and Cartier make sense; they were, after all, Fathers of Confederation. You can just imagine someone saying, "But wait, we should add a woman...oh, and an aboriginal, too, while we're at it. We don't want anyone to feel left out." Frigging political correctness. "And of course, we'll do a promotional video with an immigrant in it...", never mind the fact that he can't even pronounce "Tamiskaming". Yep, our tax dollars at work..

So, why the Punjabi reference? 9:20. Why not to include then a traditional dance or reference from the rest of cultures that inhabit Canada?. Where are left the chinese, philiphines, and other large ethnic groups represented on this video?.....I wonder who was the ones that decided what to include or not with respect of their own opinion of what should be representative of Canada?....

In any video about a multicultural country about Canada, we will be able to profile many cultures and also need to leave some off given the multitude of different groups. Most of our audiences believe we have struck the right balance between urban and rural, culture and nature, progressive and traditional, East, central and Western Canada and New Canadians, Indigenous Canadians and multicultural Canadians.

We wish we could have provided all forms of cultural performance in our film however we were dealing with the realities of a 360° film environment, where people get overwhelmed by the content when it pushes past 25-30 minutes and the economics of bringing in the film on budget. Our team and board worked diligently to ensure that the film was representative of all cultures (indigenous, traditional and newer Canadian) , future-looking, entertaining and significant, fitting with our Canada 150 milestone. We have captured some of the audience's reactions and feelings of Canadian pride after watching HORIZON here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGiVpGOLo6mZl80
