It’s changed so much since I was in band tournaments back around 2000. It’s a lot more dancing, rolling on the ground and theatrics, and a lot less difficult marching while playing. Also seems like every band (except this one apparently) has to have a story teller setting the scene in the beginning. I guess that’s just how it is these days, but I do miss our “old school” style.

Ah yeah I really miss hearing the same five musical selections across dozens of bands while they play the easiest arrangements known to man because hardly anyone could play a run with decent timing

Although soccer goalies make up only 10% of the team, they experience the largest number of cancers. Goalkeepers account for 68% of leukemia cases. 2. The majority of the cancers reported by Amy Griffin are blood cancers, which are the most heavily influenced by environmental exposures. Why are the children lying down on cancer causing tire crumbs. What a travesty. Very dangerous and irresponsible by the directors. All for competition, what hypocrisy. Go ahead, put your kids at risk of life threatening cancer for the win. Just google soccer goalkeepers field turf.

Unfortunately people don’t realize that double tounging and random woodwind runs don’t mean you’ll get first place lol. If BOA was like wgi and partly graded on difficulty then by all means they can complain, but clean and consistency beats all. It also helps that Avon and Carmel are GE powerhouses.

Jeeezzz The music prowess is spectacular. it's just those visual that lacks year over year for Texas imo I just wished UIL allowed Texas program's access to visual assignments and practice pre-August 1st! Once UIL realizes they are not the only standard in Marching Arts it's going to allow these already stellar programs to constantly shine on the National stage like nothing ever seen before!

@@texanboiii562 I would say the Midwest as a whole come November. TBF they do get to see and practice those assignments a whole month earlier than Texas programs plus their overall music demand is mid to low compared to what some of these Texas programs are pumping out year over year. Hope that helps

This performance was truly DCI caliber! WOW! The show flowed seamlessly, and every transition was smooth and impressive. They never stopped moving, and when they did, it was for powerful choreography. These Hebron kids are putting in an incredible amount of work, and they absolutely deserve recognition for their amazing effort. so Hats off to Hebron! You've won gold in our hearts, trophy or not. You're all winners to me!

God I wanna love Avon and Carmel so much but It’s always a yearly debate for me. These programs are undeniable in terms of visual demand. The problem that I see now is that musically these Indiana programs field an intermediate brass book and easily the lowest valve demand on the field. They don’t sound like the Texas Elites or BA and TS. Maybe Texas overall will never look as clean as Indiana as UiL will not allow visual assignments or practice until August 1st every year. Should BOA have such an allowance rewarding Visual and designers only? Rant over but those are things to Consider. Congrats Indiana for having the best HS marchers in the country year over year.

Fantastic. I dont mean to make even the slightest negative comment, but a 300 member marching ensemble is a bit odd. I'd like to see it cut down a bit. Or have them make better use of their size. Why so close together most of the time? Have them spread out over the entire field.
@judecrooker6618
@judecrooker6618 Ай бұрын
they’re as spread out on the field as you realistically want to get. there needs to be a fine balance between being visually dynamic and keeping the performers close to the audience where they’ll be heard; this show does that pretty well. pushing people further backfield increases the distance between any two performers and makes it harder for those in the back to see drum majors (which is a flat out necessity with bands this big, you cannot listen to other parts of the field for tempo due to speed of sound). 300-350 members is actually a pretty good spot to be for a band like this. the bigger the band, the bigger the sound after all. a good number of competitive bands sit around this size. hell, my college band frequently sits at 500+ members and we make it work.

This show should send a signal to Hebron. There is no need for DCI - D1 level drill complexity if you want to win nationals. Focus on music performance, and clean drill execution.

Well to be fair Avon definitely had the hardest visuals this year especially with that opening choreography and still won the title, vis, and GE. I think there needs to be a decent blend of difficulty and execution to get the difficulty points, cleanliness points, and cool factor points for vis and vis ge
@user-ml2re8ek7b
@user-ml2re8ek7b 7 ай бұрын
@@katana2140 I wouldn't say Carmel had the hardest visuals, they had the cleanest drill. The hardest drill went to Hebron and Carmel had the best overall visual book. I would say this. Hebron got the highest music score in history, but places 4th in Music GE. At the high school level, difficult, but clean music does not win. You need clean music, clean drill but good visuals.

Fabulous! Great design and performance. I had the pleasure of seeing this whole contest live and sat w/ a few other judges right on the 50. I would have placed TWHS 2nd after finals. Alas, I think this is probably the 3rd Nats in a row they've underplaced, imo, despite placing very very well regardless. It's a pity the finals panel saw things so differently from the semis panel and opened up a bizarre two point gap between Hebron/TWHS and the top -- just my professional opinion. But scores in no way diminish any of these bands. To paraphrase Gertrude Stein, a great show is a great show is a great show. And TWHS did cross a 97 for their first time in semis, so good for y'all! 👍
