I have worked in film/TV for over 32 years and its always the same. Employed for a few months, then unemployed for a few months, nature of the beast! If you think its not gonna be like this, then you're kidding yourself. Great industry though and wouldn't change it for the world!!

Hello! I just started learning animation and one thing i just cannot figure out is that 99.999% of 3d animations, including mocap and big blockbuster movies, i've seen just lack that accurate physics. Even if the feet adjusted and the motions are smooth, the physics just doesn't seem to be there. Autophysics from cascadeur helps a little bit but the 3d animations always look a bit souless, unnatural. Do you have any tips on how to make it look like 3d models are actually present in the scene, not just some awkward cgi pasted onto the scene? if that is even possible. but although every once in a while, i see a mocap data or even a simple 3d animation that just has that "it" factor. and it looks like it has internal mechanism, isntead of just a big cgi blop. thank you.
@jeandenishaas23 күн бұрын
@@testing6753 99.999% is a bold statement 😅 I think it would be easier if you tell me which movies or animation had the it factor for you.
@testing675323 күн бұрын
@@jeandenishaas LOL i think the recent ones i found that were better than usual was promo video of Nvida omniverse from two years ago. I think wonder dynamics has a pretty good mocap but i'm not sure im being blind sided by their realistic materials for the model. basically i'm not sure how to animate a 3d character that looks like it's actually responding to the environment like the floor and how to animate tension and release like muscles tensing right before shooting a basketball than arms relaxing subtly after shooting it. most animation just dont look natural to me. thank you.
@jeandenishaas23 күн бұрын
@ Hahah not the examples I expected. There is some great work out there but it sounds like you’re looking mostly for photorealistic work with proper physics and for that observation is key. Mocap gets you there but you still have to keyframe on top of it to really push it. Muscle and flesh simulation will also help sell subtle impacts, contractions l, etc.
