Is this waterfall along the new Dutchman reroute of the R2R?
@HikingWithShawn15 сағат бұрын
No. Those are on horse trails. They’re not official trails. They’re illegal according to FS but it’s of my opinion that they should be made into designated trails because they’re nice.

I've noticed the minimal narration recently. On some videos it can probably be effective, like waterfalls or wildlife, but I really think on the regular hikes I prefer hearing you describe the surroundings. Just my two cents worth.

The way I'm feeling today, I kinda wish I were that turtle and had me a nice crevice in the rock where I could pull my head and legs in and shut my shell up tight and wait for a few years to come out and see if the forest was still there.

I wish I could say I would have liked to have been there on that day, but I can't. It looks very rainy and slippery and kinda miserable, but I know you gotta get out to spots like that in those conditions to really see the falls in their full glory. Right now, though, I'm glad you braved the elements and got video of it all so that I can sit here in the comfort of my home and enjoy it all while I drink a cup of coffee ☕ and listen to the rain 🌧️ pattering outside. Thanks for making that possible.😊

Last year, I hiked this whole part at night with my buddy Joe while we were thru-hiking from west to east. We did it at night to catch up on some miles we missed the day before. This time, I’m really looking forward to hiking during the day so I can enjoy every bit of the trail. I really wanted to see that area with all the pine trees, but instead, I only saw the shapes of the trees under a sky full of stars. It was beautiful in its own way, but still... Thanks for sharing this part of the trail! It’s got me really excited for my hike.

Yep. Bell Smith was the name of a guy who owned it. His name is carved in the rocks too.

When you do the loop counterclockwise, there's a big rock that looks like a gorilla's head between the stream and the climbing wall… does that rock have a name to your knowledge?
