I don't know why they didn't have a saint Patty's day parade come on people would have had a mask on who knows if they got the vaccine or not but at least have the parade for god sakes it was never this way for the last hundred years shame on these politicians for doing this only for a couple hours people would have been so happy and pleased now they have to wait a whole year for St Patrick's day again just ridiculous 🍀🇨🇮💯🍀💚

I am 99% Irish! My father was first generation, Irish American, my mother 4th generation. My family celebrates us being Irish not only on Saint Patrick’s Day, but every single time we get together! After every Sunday dinner at my grandmothers home, she came to America in 1898, from County Mayo, all that was there, would join in as my Dad sang Irish songs! He had a gorgeous voice! Everyone clapped and sang along. We always had something to bang, like an old pot, pan metal lids, that we played along as my Dad sang... My other relatives, told jokes and stories. We had a grand time! We tried to attend the Irish parade, in NYC or in Philadelphia every year! Our homes are full of Ireland year round! Not just on March 17. I have shared my heritage with my husband and our son, as well as every friend I meet. I hope the USA well always celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day, especially after the pandemic ends.

Not a drop of Irish in me, as far as I know, but, I married Irish and have had an attraction to Ireland for decades. Years ago a friend of mine invited me to an AOH meeting. I told him I have no Irish in me but he said he will find it! And....a few years ago a man from IRELAND said " God Bless You " his beautiful accent and emotion made me feel as if God himself were present! Happy Saint Patrick's Day and God Bless!!!!

Today, March 17, is St. Patrick’s Day. The Purpose of St. Patrick. Although most people nowadays know St. Patrick thanks to the popular parades that are held all over the world to celebrate Irishness (not to mention the custom of raising a glass to the saint), there are several interesting facts that guided his life and that we could all learn from to do better in our own lives. It is living our lives by modeling good values. One fact of his life that we likely share (and if not, we invite you to consider it) is living a life with purpose, no matter the circumstances. St. Patrick is the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland. Contrary to popular belief, he wasn’t Irish. He was born around A.D. 375 in Britain, probably somewhere in Scotland, though the exact date and place are unknown. According to several sources, including Encyclopedia Britannica, he is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland. He was probably partly responsible as well for the Christianization of the Picts and Anglo-Saxons. But to accomplish such a remarkable achievement, he had to deal with a lot of adversity, calamities, and difficulties. As we know, the most valuable things in life always come with a price-sacrifice. But if your purpose is clear, solid, and especially virtuous, as in the case of St. Patrick, there is nothing that can stop you. In our case, that purpose is what keeps us vital and pushing forward, no matter the difficulties. When he was 16, St. Patrick was kidnapped by pirates and sold into slavery in Ireland to herd and tend sheep. After six years in captivity, he escaped after having a dream sent by God, telling him to leave Ireland by going to the coast where he would find a ship waiting to sail to Britain. He later became a priest and a bishop and is known for two short works: Confessio and Letter to Coroticus. In Confessio, he tells about a dream sent by God. In it, he was given a letter with the heading “The Voice of the Irish.” He heard the Irish people calling out to him to come back to Ireland and walk once more among them. After overcoming doubts, and motivated by a deep sense of purpose, he returned to Ireland, where he preached and converted people for 40 years, amid opposition and formidable difficulties-not a small accomplishment, given the circumstances at that time. His Letter to Coroticus was a denunciation of British mistreatment of Irish Christians. Will there come a time when people of faith finally will NOT be persecuted or discriminated against for their religious beliefs? We certainly believe so. We aspire to that aim and work toward it every day. We encourage you to do the same. As you can see, St. Patrick’s life and spiritual quest were guided by a strong sense of purpose. Difficulties and obstacles didn’t matter. They just made him stronger and helped him to achieve what he set out to do: share the gospel across Ireland.
