Can you share the route as a GPX file, or marked map? I think I recognise some sections, but it would be hard to figure out the full route from the video.

I might ride that tomorrow - would you recommend to ride this a few times to fill a afternoon?
@speedymadr62 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s a great run. There’s another route that starts almost from the top and goes off to the left. I’ve got another video of it. The top is a bit of double track but there’s a great single track section and then super fast double track with some nice boulder sections back to the church.
@speedymadr62 жыл бұрын
The actual bike park run is a bit naff if you ask me. Was ok as a warm up but once was enough

Thankfully that lovely heather broke the fall a little, bet that still hurt though at that speed! I do love natural trails like that but it's my worst fear that I'll have a nasty off on my own and be stranded there
@speedymadr63 жыл бұрын
First one was ok as the heather did soften the impact. Second one did hurt and smacked my head I’ve got the emergency contact set up in the garmin so would call wifey to let her j is I may have crashed. Worked for both crashes and had to cancel the call.
@mickpowell25293 жыл бұрын
Where did you start this run, was it the top of Signal?
@speedymadr63 жыл бұрын
Hi Mick, yea top of signal and the headed up towards du holy and around. You can pick up a trail map in the tourist centre
@speedymadr63 жыл бұрын
There’s another run that starts from the signal and you come out and head down towards the notre dame de la gorge. Not as good as this run but has a great bit of single track and a fast double track doesn’t to the chapel.
@mickpowell25293 жыл бұрын
@@speedymadr6 Cheers, I know it well, been going there since 1989 but haven't seen that single track before, so you head toward Col du Joly and you pick it up somewhere off that track which is the green run in Winter?

Well that doesn’t look like a very heavily ridden trail, how did you find it? Looks pretty scary in places.
@speedymadr65 жыл бұрын
I heard about it a few years ago but only found the access to it recently on strava looking for segments. I have uploaded the video so a few friends can view but it will be taken it down. there is a sign on the entrance asking for people not to promote it on social media. I will respect the trail builders. But yes sketchy in places, especially given the conditions!

Thanks Dave, MBR posted a route that goes over Black Sails. I have read a couple of blogs that say, be prepared for "Some bike and hike" But just how much it does not say? Seen videos on YTube - Getting mixed vibes! Dont want to plan a route for the crew if its all bike a hike!!!! What would you suggest?
@speedymadr66 жыл бұрын
mack8040 depends where you staying. I've always liked the borrowdale bash, all rideable and a good day out. Some road sections but worth it. Skiddaw and come down ullock pike is a gem. About two hour climb to the top with a mix of push and cycle but one of the best descents in the lakes.
@mack80406 жыл бұрын
is this Black Sails Pass? Is it rideable? thinking of heading that way in the next couple of weeks.
@speedymadr66 жыл бұрын
mack8040 I went up Rossett Gill to esk hause then down to Styhead tarn. Up honnistet and then follow the return route of borrow dale bash. I've look at black sail pass, not sure how much would be rideable

Is cwncarn appropriate for someone who only rides blues and reds at BPW?
@speedymadr66 жыл бұрын
Cwmcarn is a step up from the Reds at BPW but it is all rideable (with options to ride around the two drops on the lower section). it is definitely more DH orientated, fast with more rocks and drops vs BPW. I would say if you confident on the Reds such as insufficient funds then you will be fine. What is great is that as there are only a few options you get to know the track really well by the end of the day. Start slow and build your speed up :-)

Do you agree with me that those tables just don't work as you just can't get the speed for them
@speedymadr66 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, for my skill level they just don't work, I haven't got the speed to get up and over them. Kind of puts a damper on the feel of the trail. I love it all the way up to the tables then its just a bit bleurgh. Preferred it when they were smaller.
@jono123410006 жыл бұрын
Those tables work just need to hit the trail flat out with no brakes and clear the jumps before it.
@Ollie.r1chards6 жыл бұрын
Those jumps are some of the best in the park! I used to think like you before i actually tried clearing the tripple. Once you huck the tripple before you have more than enough speed
