Hockeys a very dangerous Profession. Poorly educated players need pensions and healthcare. Protection from rapacious team owners. Hull is arguably the greatest. Shooting skating, stick handling, passing, checking. The best skater - of all time.

The Uber Arena in Berlin, the home arena of the Eisbären Berlin, should have been on the list or at least it should have been mentioned. Great atmosphere, state of the art lightning and sound system, wouldn't look out of place in the NHL even if it would have been the 2nd smallest venue there. Food options are decent inside, even for me as a vegetarian and the arena is located in the Friedrichshain neighborhood. The East Side Mall is in direct proximity which, along with the purposely developed Uber-Platz provides great dining options just outside the arena. In addition, the East Side Gallery, which is the longest remaining part of the Berlin Wall, is also next to the arena and so is the Kreuzberg neighbourhood with plenty of restaurants and pubs, so the Arena is in a prime location if you want to make a day trip out of your match day experience. I may be biased as a Eisbären fan but I think Uber Arena is surely among the 10 best hockey venues in Europe

Bobby Hull I will remember him as a brilliant exciting hockey player, who was great with the fans. Thousands have. Sure he was a flawed person like we all are. Its a brutal game and they played without helmets. There is no need to vilify him now or excuse his mistakes. Its ok to remember him for what he gave to the game and his generosity with the fans.

I don’t know about the bad stuff but I do remember a story about Hull having dinner with teammate Stan Mikita when he was approached for an autograph. After signing an autograph or two he said to the fans something to the effect of would you also like an autograph from Stan Mikita? A nice gesture on Hull’s part, I think.

The Islanders almost came back from back-to-back 3-0 deficits that year. In the following round, the Flyers won the first three games, then the Islanders won the next three. I think this was when the Flyers were the defending champions.

This video should be pulled. Innuendo about a possible nazi comment made or not made..once..and how it may have remembered/ reported to media. Come-on!! And the he said-she said accusations made by bitter ex wives. These should not tarnish the reputation of his stellar career as one of best all-time players. And his courageous move to give credibility to the WHL in the early 1970's. He also gave countless hour each week to signing autographs for his fans when other players walked directly to the dressing room. Please.. enough with trying to destroy this man's reputation!!

I personally don't give a rats ass what he did or said off the ice. His personal family business should never be out in the open and I wouldn't believe anything some ex wife said about a guy. Women are vindictive and jealous and will say things that are not true just to try and bring a guy down.

Actually, Mogilny's defection did not make it easier for players like Federov and Bure to play in the NHL. The Soviet sport authorities were willing to let some of the older players like Fetisov and Larionov go, but they had no intention of letting their younger stars play for the 'enemy'. Mogilny's defection was a shock and a great loss, so it was probably more difficult to cross over because of increased security at international events after he left. Don't forget, Federov was not allowed to leave- he defected in '90. Bure flew to the states in the fall of '91 and negotiated with the Canucks without the permission of Soviet authorities but by then time was running out on the USSR. It would be gone by the end of the year and the Red Army no longer controlled the destiny of these players... Thanks for the video on Alexander- one of the all-time NHL greats and one of my favorite players!
