Incredible detail! 🤗 I was only ever in the submarine they have in The Historic Dockyards in Portsmouth and im pretty sure its NOT a U-Boat! Well done sir 🤝

Glad you like it Paul.. As a retired engineer.. I like detail.. My Mother was in the day a very good artist and so the impression of realism is the challenge to me..

Sad that the model Interior is so inacurat. The bulkheads to the controlroom are not flat they are in shape of a spear. Also the tank plow the control center.

Great build! You have a great ey for detail. Hope mine turns out a fraction of your quality. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get your food stores? I been searching for months with nothing. Cheers Oldbroad Angela 🇨🇦

Hi Angela; I made the dried meats out of a modelling clay, brown is best. You are right about the searching I found nothing too. Look up Sugercharmshop on youtube and Facebook. This lady is about the best food modeller I have come across, for inspiration.

Good afternoon friend, enjoyed your KZbin video of your build. I'm a 75yr young 🇨🇦 woman who is handicapped & loves modeling. I've taken on the Trumpeter U-Boat 1/48th as my final project as I figure it will take me somewhere around 2-4 yrs to complete to my satisfaction. I have the complete Pontos PONF48001 detail kit, as well as a complete lighting & sound kit, (which I have already assembled and tested) now ready for assembly once I get to that stage of the interior. When I was on FB, I was on a number of modeling groups, & at one point I saw a gent whose build was going along total realism, & had akit of stores with personnel items. I save the suppliers to my phone but later my phone died and I lost everything. Don't know if I'm using wrong wording for search but have been unable to find anyone who supplies 1/48 scale WW2 German naval galley stores or crew items. Would greatly appreciate if you have any further information about this as I would very much like to include normal everyday supplies that crew would us on a tour at sea. Thanks a bunch for your help and time. Cheers Oldbroad Angela 🇨🇦

Real sorry Angela for the very delayed reply.. The youtube account is registered to an email I don’t generally use but I will watch out now… As you are building and you want specific answers to the area you are working on.. just let me know and I will endeavour to reply

@@stevenblack7928 I am here to inspire the artistry in other builders; Simple. I am saying that anyone can glue this kit together reasonably successfully ( although it is not simple and is a vast kit), I am encouraging people to question the kit makers “colour instructions “ and use some flair ( within reason). I admit I am probably inaccurate with interior steel shell shade but I think I am on the money with the external shade after loads of research. Artists can range from zero, where someone will attempt to motorise the propeller and make the torpedoes work, but will robotically follow the colour instructions.. All the way to the “uber” artist who will paint the crew as circus clowns, the submarine yellow, and have Ringo Starr playing in the background... I am encouraging people to push a little on the artistry with Citadel Washes to add the grime... They were dirty places....and display the food,; they did eat after-all; A conspicuous omission in my opinion . Enjoy your build and Thanks for the appreciation!

This is where I got mine & am very happy with both the quality, price and customer service. I've assembled, painted the bulbs tested comple system that also has multiple (4) soundtracks. www.magicscalemodeling.com/menu-contact I have even purchased the terminal parts in the event I have to extend some of the wires. All ready for the interior assembly of the U-Boat. Good luck with your build. Cheers 🇨🇦

The Das Boote film used a studio replica. I can assure you the colours above the interior deck level is off white. www.u-boot-archiv.de/dieboote/farben_maerz_1940.html Below decks is pretty much black or grey. There were two heads on the type vii, one of them is on the starboard side so is not included.

There is published on internet Kreigsmarine paint specs. Interior was ivory (elfenbein). Also the curator of the sub in the US also said the last layer of paint on that sub when investigated was ivory. Just building up this sub. Looks like i it's going me a year to fininish. Electro motor cabinets on the model probably as fitted by i think Norway, that owned the sub after WW2.
