I’m inclined to believe the stories in the papers of these heroic legends inspired my grandfather to become a member of FDNY in 1932

I was a Volley from 1986 (16 yrs old) until 2021 (51 yrs old) and I started reading Chief Dunn at the age of 16. I would read his articles during the day in high school.

Great show! Get some more guys from EMS on the show. I think it would be great way to showcase the amazing work and history of EMS in NY.

Very interesting and informative show ! As a former Tunnel Rat, we didn't fuel up at pcts prior to the merge unless EMS was low on fuel, normally my partner and I would get gas at Sta 39 if we covered the Adam sector and at 57 if we covered the Boy sector. The houses that were really good to the Tunnel Rats for meal were 176, 222 , 237 and 108. Fun fact, heard a rumor that a guy I worked with who was a good guy and cop is a Lt in R4, his old man was an Lt in 222 and we went there for meal one day, brought some entemanns cakes, sat down for a steak dinner and the Batt chief and driver came down, the senior guy asked them for the $ for the meal, one of them tried to have us pay for their meal at which time the crew of 222 told the chief and his driver that not only did we bring entemanns, we didn't have to because we were family !

I’m one of Chief McElroy’s children and he is such a good man. He also works out almost every day still, he still drives, his memory is unmatched, he has a ton of friends and every where he goes he makes more friends. While we disagree on some things it has never hurt our relationship. I’m am so proud to be his kid.

God bless all firefighters. Jay Jonas - so much respect for this guy's virtues. Talking about the photo seen at 2:21:32 where he sits by the ambulance in a blue shirt and one of his guys is in a gurney, I am pretty sure there is a video of this same scene. YT vid called, "WTC1 'Collapse' and Ground Zero raw footage - Sauret". Beginning at the 25 minute, 30 seconds mark, you can see Chief Jonas in the blue shirt and then the man in the gurney. It's from the opposite angle of the photo, and the quality is not as good as the photo, but it sure looks like Jonas and his men.
